About the EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6GB Graphics Card

How is the EVGA GTX 1060 SC 6GB? I'm planning on buying one instead of the XFX GTR RX 480 and I was wondering if it's a good buy. Thanks!

Even besides that, any graphics card shipped shipped from EVGA at this point will not have that issue. Linking that was irrelevant at this point(aside from if one were to consider buying a used one).

The "fix" is laughable, they turned the fans somewhat faster which makes the videocards running pretty loud.
Why not get one that doesn't need any fix in the first place?

The ACX 3.0 had a bad oversight on the V-ram cooling, something so simple that it was needed in order to stop them from burning themselves out. Reason why 1060 wasn't an issue, was the fact they're lower watts cards, meaning less heat, you will see improvements for cooling, just by applying thermal pads on the V-rams. No i'm not kidding, some of the 1060 that use ACX 3.0 have the same layout cooler as the 70/80, you can look this up if you think i'm kidding. But again they should't have an issue with cooling as they're lower watts.

I agree with Cathulhu it's a joke to call it a fix, just by changing the default fan speed. The nice thing about it, they can ship you thermal pads, but you want to make sure it's making contact with the V-rams, if they're not making contact, you will still have the issue of not cooling right. TBH it's better to buy good thermal pads online, than use what they ship you.
