I wouldn't say it is a "world beating monster" but believe what you want.
The performance numbers using DX12 are a bit less impressive, but again the 480 surpasses the 1060 by a significant margin.
Given that DX12 and Vulkan are being used to develop the vast majority of future games, DX11 benchmarks induce a very significant error in purchasing decisions.
This isn't like the evolutionray progression from DX10 to DX11. DX12 and Vulkan arer revolutionary: We are moving from high level APIs to low level, entirely different beasts.
Where i live 1080s cost 650 pound which is the same as 815 dollars. I have 1 rx480 so i would only need to spend 270 dollars to get close to a 1080
