HDMI 2.0 does UHD 4096x2160 60Hz but only 30Hz for 4K 3840x2160
Short story, I connected my PC to my 4K TV and driver only offered 30Hz. But on list of valid modes there's UHD 60Hz.

But it's really more complex than that.

Between my samsung KS7000 and my GTX 760 there's a Yamaha RX-A2050. If I plug my 760's sole HDMI port to A2050, it works with 3840x2160 @ 60Hz. Perfect.

I'm buying a 1070, and all models I found have only 1 HDMI port. The issue is that later I'm gonna buy Oculus Rift, and it will require that HDMI port. I've read that VR uses a non-official resolution and if we use any HDMI cable that doesn't support that resolution it won't work. So I'd rather use the HDMI port for VR and handle other stuff with DisplayPort.

I then bought a DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 adapter: http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-859861208-club3d-cac-1073-displayport-12-p-hdmi-20-active-4k-60hz-_JM

But, if I use this adapter between 760 and A2050, it works at 30Hz. At first I believed it was converting to HDMI 1.4 instead of 2.0. But looking at display's properties' "List of all valid modes", I see 4096x2160 @ 60Hz. And indeed there isn't a 3840x2160 @ 60Hz, only 30Hz.

How can that be possible? My TV doesn't support UHD, if I use this resolution it gets white horizontal lines on its bottom.

760 driver is updated, TV/receiver is using Generic PnP driver. Should I install some driver or what?

Get a HDMI 2.0b (18.5Gbit) cable. You using a 2.0a cable

Edit: the thing is that 4K on an UHD TV using HDR + Sound and HDMI 2.0a is not enough to handle it.

Oh crap! So it's not enough to be HDMI 2.0, it needs to be 2.0b?!

The thing is that most adapters I see are to HDMI 1.4. But I'm gonna talk to the vendor.

Had to upgrade to a 2.0b cable too. My 1.5m cable did cost 5$ on Amazon with free shipping... works fine since then for me at 4K
Hikari.ws 17. juli 2017 kl. 18.59
I contacted vendor and he said he's using the came @ 4K/60. TV and GPU drivers are updated.

Is there anything else that could be done?

Using GPU's HDMI port and a HDMI cable I can reach 4K/60, so the issue is either the cable or GTX 760's DP.

I ask again, is it possible that 4096x2160 be available @ 60Hz and 3840x2160 not?

Help me understand, how you getting the 60Hz, and 30Hz?

GTX 760 > TV?
or
GTX 760 > Yamaha Aventage RX-A2050 A/V Receiver > TV?

If it the 2nd option, what are the two cables are you using going from gpu to the receiver, then to the tv?

I know that AsusGtx 1070 Rog Strix has 1 DL-Dvi, 2 HDMI, and 2 DVI ports, but since you're in Brazil your best bet is to check US websites that still selling 1070 with 2 HDMI, or try your luck on eBay.

Because it's need more bandwidth, the 6840x2160 is almost x2 the bandwidth of the 4096x2160, that is why you can't use 6840x2160 60hz, to solve this problem you want a monitor that does supports the screen resolution you want that is higher than 4k, but you will be force to use two displayports to be able to use 60hz, that is above 4k.

The new HDMI 2.1 will be coming out, which will support all the way upto 10k 120hz, so claim by the rumors, but that will be no used to you, as you will have devices that using 2.0/b ports. Also I don't know why you want to use higher screen resolution than your 4k TV, as that will just stretch the image passed the screen, and won't look good.

I didn't even try 760 directly to TV. Connecting it to Yamaha already provides 4K/60. I don't remember which company produced my cables.

This adapter I bought now is the one linked above.

eBay doesn't sell here ALAIK. I saw a 1070 with 2 HDMI on newegg, but found none to buy here.

Sorry it's 3480, I mistyped. 4096x2160 has more pixels than 4096x2160 and has 60Hz available.

My guess is that HDMI 2.0a doesn't specify 3480x2160/60 but does for 4096x2160/60. And 2.0b added more resolutions and refresh rates to the list.

I had same Problem
Switch your tv on UHD mode (4:2:2 or 4:2:0) 4 60fps
I had 3 DP to HDMI adapters only 1 works (brand Club) 4K60FPS

I can't find a way to make my Samsung KS7000 support UHD :/ Gonna call its support tomorow.

Adapter's original page is http://www.club-3d.com/en/detail/2365/displayportt_1.2_cable_to_hdmit_2.0_uhd_4k60hz_active_adapter_male-male_3m-_9.84ft/

It's specced for 3840 x 2160p @ 60Hz. Gonna try to contact manufacturer.

Thanks for the info. HDMI UHD Color is currently off, do I need to set it to on?
Hikari.ws 19. juli 2017 kl. 21.12
Unfortunately it didn't work. Setting UHD Color on didn't make 60Hz available. I tried to use nVidia Control Panel to create custom resolution, but the result was the same as trying to use 4096 columns. Whole screen was blank with flickering horizontal lines at the bottom. But this time it happened with 3840 colums, which TV supports...

Anyway, I contacted manufacter and they said my 760 might not support 4K/60 with active adapter.
