If it has a PCI-e slot, it's compatible, don't worry, it'll work.
Just make sure you're plugging it into at least an x8 slot.
(Usually the top longest slot is x16, and directly connected to the CPU, so plug it in there, and you'll be good.)

Yep.

also make sure your power Supply has a connector if your GTX 1050 ti needs one for power . as there are models that do require a 6 pin power connector

the non ti cards may not need a power connector

most aftermarket boards are (gigabyte, msi, asus, ect..)

oem mobo may not be, check the mfg site for a bios update if it does not recognize it

1050ti is around the 75w range, some do not have pci-e power connectors, other do

so when i upgrade my cpu from a i3 2120 to a i5 3570k my cpu will work

most likely, but look up the mobo model for cpu compatability
update bios if there is one available

I would consider going i7 rather than i5 if you want to play online or AAA titles. The i5 has only 4 threads. With old equipment squeezing the most out of them can be necessary.

^ this

look for 3770 or xeon e3-12xx-v2 series
k will have a higher base and turbo clock vs non k

It is a smaller difference by less than 0.5 ms for more demand graphics.

thats a modern i5 with high core count...

Pull up 2020 benches of 3rd/4th gen i5 vs same gen i7 in modern titles.

At OP, if you can afford it go for the i7, but dont waste too much money on the platform unless you have a Z series board and even then it is only worth so much.

If you are looking at 200-300 bucks then you are arguably better off with an uber-cheap AMD build.

as stated, go with an i7 not an i5
as a user of an i5 2500k i can say that you'll want the i7 for better gaming performance with modern games.

yeh, I rock the 2700k in my third rate* rig and with a decent OC it is still a solid performer. Turn off the HT though and it is not nearly as smooth.

My mistake, but it will still play okay with i7-3770K. Windows 10 may work okay too.
