Installing KF2 in external hd
I've been having some trouble when trying to install Killing Floor 2 on an external HD.

The download speed suddenly drops every 2 or 3 minutes from aproximately 10MB/s to 0MB/s and the disk usage also drops to around 500 kbs/s. This only happens when I try to install games on external hard drives, it also happened when I tried to install Final Fantasy XV into another external hd.

I have installed other games into my main HDD and my SSD and had no problem, so I don't think is an internet issue, although I did open the ports 27015-27030 which are the ones used for downloads according to a steam page I found.

Do you have an idea on what I could do to solve this? It really drives me crazy, I could be downloading it at a decent speed but as it keeps dropping it takes an eternity so it can be completed !

And other question I have is : Is it a good idea to install such a high-demanding game on an external hard drive ?

Right now I'm using a Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0USB

Here's an image of the downloading graph: https://imgur.com/a/j8wZxBG

That's normal as Steam needs to take time to decompress the games files.

But should it be the hard drive's speed then ? Because it just doesn't stop that often when downloading games into de SSD/HDD

Considering the amount of ppl online these days
its likely server related
just let it do its thing, its normal

and i wouldnt consider KF2 as demanding in that sense

Download crystal disk mark and bench the drive to see how good or bad it is.

Alright then, I'll download that program to see how it works.
Anyway the download finally finished and I could play some games normally, so I guess there isn't that much problem with playing it from an external hard drive.

Thank you all for the responses :)
