Resolution/refresh rate problem win 10
When i try to change resolution through windows so i can play stretched in rust, it works, but when i change my refresh rate back to 120, it goes to 640x480, every time. Everything is up to date including graphics drivers. Anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks

Where have you changed the refresh rate because you should be using the games resolution to change that games windows. If you want the desktop to be different then changing the Windows OS screen resolution refresh rate would do that to all windowed applications.

It’s important to understand when you change the resolution it’s not changing the refresh rate. When you change the refresh rate it means the display panel must do things at a higher rate of refresh. Making the screen resolution change do to the fact that it’s operating differently. A change to the resolution doesn’t make for a change in refresh rate. Although the refresh rate does mean that the Display panel can use a resolution designed for a high rate of refresh.

what im trying to say is that when i normally change my desktop resolution, it resets my refresh rate to 60. Which is fine, i normally just change it back to 120 and theres no problem. But just today i changed the res and then changed the refresh rate back to 120 like normal, but it resets the resolution to 640x480. this has never happened to me before. And i change my resolution because that is how to get a streched resolution in rust, which i like to play at. you have to change desktop and in game res in order to do that. but i just ran into this problem today.

Windows uses its own methods. A stretch is like getting closer. Stretching the surface area. Changing the refresh rate changes the resolution not the other way around. Like what you've said here.

Change the refresh rate to what ever. This should give you options of what resolutions can be done on the display panel. Change the resolution to what you want.

But my refresh rate is already at 120 when i start. Im doing this all throught windows. I use to be able to change my res to 1280x1024 through windows, then change my refresh rate back to 120 through windows and it will work. but it JUST started having this problem.
Change it via AMD Crimson or NVIDIA Control Panel; not in Windows Screen Resolution

okay. do you happen to know how to change it in amd crimson? I only know how to make a custom resolution, but it doesnt allow me to choose the resolution to use after i make it.
Did you ever find a fix, this happened to me when i was tryna go stretched for rust when i had like 3k hours and its happening again now, very annoying

late but needed
