Bad for i7-4770K to be idling at ~140F (60C)?
My overclocked i7-4770K idles at at around 120-150F at 7% load. Under load, I've seen it go to 160F. Is this bad for it? I've heard that the max recommended temperature is 150F (67C).

The overclocking is handled by Lenovo OneKey Overclocking, so I didn't do it manually.

EDIT: stressed it in CPU-Z. Here's max temps http://i.imgur.com/3sRcEab.png

Are the overclocked clocks constantly in use? Like, is it 4.4ghz or w/e all the time no matter what?

If so that could be why. do you have Intel Speedstep enabled in the BIOS?

Intel CPUs can generally handle 80s with no problem.

What cooler are you using?

The idle clocks are currently at ~3.6 GHZ, sometimes spiking to 4 GHZ. I don't know if Speedstep is enabled (never even heard of it).
Its a BIOS setting that allows the clocks to lower themselves when they arent needed and raise when they are.

What motherboard do you have and what CPU cooler?
Also, how did you obtain the overclock?

Make sure theres nothing running in the background keeping the clocks raised, processes and so forth.

The motherboard is called "Lenovo Sharkbay 31900058 STD" according to CPU-Z.

I got the overclock in 3 preinstalled modes from Lenovo (PC is not custom built). The program is called "Lenovo OneKey OverClocking [sic] "

If it was a desktop, I would say the Thermal Paste had expired. My 3770K showed similar symptoms early this year which were cured completely by replacing the paste. Unfortunately I don't think you can do that on a laptop.

I do have a PC. It's a Lenovo Erazer x510. Lenovo doesn't sell it anymore.
ehhhh...

id be wary about overclocking a CPU on a motherboard like that, and overclocking via software while in the OS..

Have you tried defaulting everything and testing the temps?

And again, what CPU cooler do you have?

Oh, my apologies, I assumed Lenovo only made Laptops for some idiotic reason.

Well that's good, I would start by replacing the Thermal Paste on the CPU, which is a cheap process and should be doable within half an hour or so. Whether it works or not, it'll eliminate the "best case scenario" from our list of possible causes.

You can buy Thermal Paste at any PC parts store, you'll also need Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol and a cloth.

The CPU cooler is some cheap fan from a Taiwanese company. It comes from a company by the name of TaiSol. I have absolutely no clue what model the fan is.

The new max temperature under load is 174F...
If its some crappy ordinary fan like a stock Intel fan, it probably isnt meant to handle decent overclocks.

Which could be where the temps come from.

But Mid to Low 60C's is adequate, as long as temps dont go above 70C.

So id get rid of the overclock, default the settings.
Obviously that cooler isnt good enough to handle that CPU when its overclocked.

That's crazy high. It shouldn't be getting that hot.

I would say replace the CPU cooler with something a lot more powerful, maybe a Cryorig C7.

In case you didn't see it, here's a screenshot of RealTemp with the maximum temperatures at the bottom: http://i.imgur.com/3sRcEab.png
Yep. That's way too hot.

Those minimum temperatures aren't true. I accidentally changed the TJ Max which in turn made the monitor say that it was at 30F, which isn't at all possible for this PC.
