RX 580 tearing
Hi folks,

I'm experiencing tearing issues and tried googling for solution but those doesn't help. Have anyone faced the same issue and managed to solved it?

My system specs and software
- Ryzen 5 3600 with stock Cooler
- MSI B450M VDH-PRO Max
- MSI RX 580 ARMOR 8Gb
- Vengeance LPX 3200MHz 2*8Gb kit
- Silicon Power NVMe M.2 1Tb
- Coolermaster MWE 550W 80+ Gold
- Windows 10 64bit
- Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.2.2
- Samsung S22F350 monitor (existing monitor in good condition so I didn't upgrade it)

I tried running GTA5 ondefault settings (around 1200Mb of GPU memory used based on the estimation on the setting screen. Once I start the benchmark test, there would be random "x'mas lighting" appearing on the screen. Then the graphics starts tearing afterwards.

I tried running the FurMark, the graphics start tearing immediately. I noticed the GPU is running at 100% but the fan is running at 30%. The temperature starts climbing from around 55°C to 63°C. I couldn't stand the tearing and stop the FurMark about 1 minute later with Max temp around 65°C.

This is a fresh build and so there was not existing AMD driver's previously. I always use the AMD driver remover whenever I reinstall the GPU driver. I've tried almost everything google suggested except for changing another GPU or monitor, I don't have any spares. Anyone managed to solved this issue can kindly help?

Thank you

Bleues

Turn on VSync in-game, that's the only way to remove tearing.
Not sure about "xmas lighting", might be faulty graphics card.

Thank you both, Snow & Autumn, for your replies.

Unfortunately the VSync is not supported from the Adrenaline software. I search for some info, the VSync for this range of monitors is only available for 24" onwards monitors, mine is the 22". I guess I'll just sent my GPU for repair and hope that will solve everything.

You might be confusing it with FreeSync. Every monitor supports VSync, just turn it on in game's settings.
Still faulty card if it produces glitches.

To get at vsync you have to disable "Radeon Enhanced Sync" then vsync becomes available.
I noticed it was on by default when I first installed this new fangled Radeon software and it was causing some sad results on my RX580's displays. All better with it off and vsync on.
And I'm not sure what you mean by christmas lights either. A pic of your screen using your phone would help.
I agree that sounds like overheating. It's normal for the 580's fans to stay off until around 50c but they should start to ramp up any higher than that and keep it around 50-60c. I use afterburner so I can't help any further.

My bad, I did confuse with FreeSync. The FreeSync was initially disabled before I installed the monitor driver, once I installed, I could control it. I have uploaded screen caps on my settings and what I've been seeing on the GTA. I was so so looking forward to game with this rig, looks like I'll have to get my card repaired or replaced somehow. Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it.

"X'mas lights", the random green, blue, red, yellow pixels, kinda like x'mas lights

My ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god. That's not screen tearing, that's something else entirely. RMA that card, it looks like it's dying.

Try this, remove GPU from MB, re insert, check GPU power connections, and PSU connections, use another HDMI cable if you have, if not use in opposite way.
Might be as well dust in the connectors, use a mini compressor to clean the dust, stay at least at 2 feets from MB and GPU while using compressor.
If it doesn't work clean install Ubuntu OS which is free and without bloatwares.

Snow is right, that's not what's normally referred to as screen tearing. That's a geometry error that could be the game or the driver or hardware. Before you send it away
check your resolution. That one pic has a wonky resolution just under 1920x1080. Not sure how you even got that. It's like an HDMI overscan/scaling setting. On the HOME screen at the far right is a gear icon. Open that and do a Factory RESET, maybe it will help, maybe not.. meh...
Anyhow... you say the benchmark and furmark had the same issue so if correcting the display size and/or resetting the driver doesn't help then bye bye.

All of them, actually, but that sure is not an issue. Look at the top of the GTAV screens - game's just a windowed mode, hence it's not filling the entire screen as it has to fit in borders and window controls as well.
Gotta be dead card, as the person already made sure it's not related to drivers.
