Ever since the lockdown my ping has been bad
I have 224 mbps through virgin media and I live near the edge of a town. Ive never once had an issue with ping or download speed no matter the time whether that be on a weekend or friday evening when everyones watching tv and playing games.

All of a sudden since the COVID 19 lockdown my ping in csgo has been a constant 120 no matter what I do and its only playable at 11pm+ when i assume everyone is going to bed but virgin media has stated its coping with the extra load easily.

Even during the day my download speed goes from 27 MB/s down to around 14MB/s which is still plenty but my ping in cs remains 120 and unplayable, its not even delay its just stuttery and I elastic band everywhere.

Any ideas? Ive switched from using 5GHz wifi to ethernet to see if that resolves the issue but it doesn't.

I have friends who live near me and never have the same issue and theyre on lower speeds than I am.

more ppl using internet bandwidth, that's why they're cutting speeds on netflix/yt/etc.

I still get 140 Mbps download during peak times and none of my other friends have this issue, its only present on csgo, other games like cod warzone run fine.

if it's one game then it's the server. csgo has server issues rn

Consistently at around 11pm and later my ping drops down to 30 and is fine all night. Its just frustrating as it means I end up staying up till the early hours of the next morning playing cs when I could have done it during the evening if my ping were normal. Not much I can do I suppose

Just because you can get high speeds doesn't mean the overcrowding on internet infrastructure isn't affecting your ping. Your ping is between your and the server. Not how much data you can send and receive. I've had the same ping, give or take 20ms, from this location for over 20 years all the way back to a 1/2 mb connection.

The crowding may not even be in the network where your getting high speeds it could be close to the servers and impacting there.
