Kraken G12 + RTX 2080 Ti + H100i V2 (anyone mounted an AIO on your GPU?)

So, in a few days, I am going to collect some stuff to attempt to watercool my Galax RTX 2080 Ti SG Edition, which seems to be using a reference board like the Founders Edition. Due to budget, and existing hardware, I can't go with custom loops from brands like EK.

The reason I am doing this is because I need enhanced cooling and more silence since I live in a warm country (Singapore) and my PC is very close to me on the table, which makes the GPU fan noise kinda loud as I got to crank them up.

I am getting:
- Corsair H100i V2 (the 240mm AIO)
- NZXT G12 (The GPU AIO Mounting bracket)
- USB 2.0 header Splitter (As I have no spare header on my motherboard)
- Some memory/ram chip heatsinks


I am wondering, for anyone owning a RTX 2080 Ti or lower who mounted an AIO, was it difficult? Did you need heatsinks for the memory chip? How were your results?

Yes I have done this for a 1080ti that didn’t have a water block for it at the time (on my page actually) Found the shroud really flimsy , I did replace the stock fan with a noctua fan, temps okay. Sold card to a buddy of mine that still uses it and is happy with the setup. The water lines are really stiff and short so just be careful installing the radiator you could crack the board if not careful.

You mean the bare PCB/Circuity board of the 1080 Ti? How did you ensure it won't crack though?

Did you use any heatsinks on the memory chips as well and did you OC them to try?

EDIT: Saw your picture on your profile. My 2080 Ti is vertically mounted in a Lian Li PC011 Dynamic. The H100i V2 I am planning to use will be mounted on top.

I installed the rad first and very carefully placed to GPU in the PCI slot, a tad rough because those lines are really rigid. No heat sink on the memory just direct air from the little fan. If you doing vertical mount you might run into issues, those lines might interfere with your side panel and the lines are not flexible, something to think about

Hmm.. Interesting

I have a spare H80i V2 at home now, but I am not using it due to it's condition. I did try to "test" fit, but I am sort of more worried whether it will ban my 2080 Ti's PCB.

Though to be fair, it seems that I can still reuse my backplate and the heatsink covering the VRMs (if you know what I mean). So that should be better to ensure that the PCB doesn't crack eh?

Yes that would help I order set of screws for back plates so I can reuse the back plates, I don’t like to pay for back plates when you have a perfectly good one that you just pulled off, but have to play with the screw lengths when you pulled the giant heat sink off.

Eh maybe, I had to order these screws for my 2080ti to reuse my backplate. It’s not like the end of the world if the original fasteners don’t work, just order that screw set if it doesn’t pan out

My 2080 Ti's backplate doesn't use the same 4 screws you need for the Founders Edition; it's spread out and it's also used to attach the VRM cooling plate as well.
