Upgrading from 1080p to 1440p- Viotek GFT27DB
Running a Ryzen 5 2600 OC'd to 4.1 ghz, MSI Armor 2070 (vanilla) with a core clock OC of +200mhz, and a 16 gigs of DDR4 at 3200mhz.

I impulse bought a Viotek GFT27DB after seeing the glowing reviews it had both on Amazon user reviews, Hardware Unboxed, and IGN.

I'm going from a 1080p 144hz ASUS and am curious about what kind of performance dip I'm going to see. I've read that the big factor the higher you go in resolution is your GPU, and I'm assuming that the weaker component in my build is the Ryzen 5 2600. If I'm getting 135 fps average on CoD Modern Warfare with all settings on max, what kind of dip can I expect with the new monitor?

Anybody have the Viotek GFT27DB and have an opinion on it?

2070 on 1440p is not going to hit 144FPS on ultra for sure. You will need a 2080 or 2080 Super.

But the 2 cents is whether you REALLY need Ultra settings. Because if you can lower to high settings and not needing aliasing and such, 2070s should be fine.

Yeah, I don't care about hitting 144 fps on ultra. If I can hit about 75 fps on a mix of medium and high settings, that would be fine for most titles except twitch shooters.

Don't even think about SLI. SLI support is horrible now or rather dying.

I already had so many issues back when I had a GTX 780M SLI laptop and when SLI support was still large in 2014; I don't wanna deal with those again.

A TITAN RTX can run modern games. Why can't it?

Plus, I am a 2080 Ti owner with a WQHD 120Hz monitor here. I don't need to literally max everything.
Yes, TITAN RTX can run modern games, but there are new releases it can't reach 144 FPS on in 1080p, such as Red Dead 2, Fallout 76, etc. (although sometimes it'll be 160~fps in FO76, it dips a lot down to 90)

The FPS is not that important. Some games were not meant to run above 60, like RDR2. For the same reason LA NOIRE was not meant to run above 30.

Just cause you might have a 144 or 240 hz Display doesn't mean all of a sudden that fps below the refresh is a bad thing.

Amd has 5700 XT which is around 1080 Ti / RTX 2070 and a 5900 XT might still release before they release their next gen.

It's not a rumor that Nvidia Ampere is coming, just a matter of when. Plus they need time to produce more then just a few to go beyond just testing them. Then there are drivers and such... plus DX12 ULTRA will be coming and this could be one major reason for amd and nvidia both holding off for now. Plus we will have no E3 this year and again with lockdown in effect this means delays in everything, gpus, ssds, consoles.... you name it. Because that will rely on factories in Asia.

2080S won't even do 144 FPS on Ultra in many games, even the 2080 Ti can have a hard time with that.

Lol. No one even plays Fallout 76, that's a bad example.

Red Dead 2 still has optimizations needed (based on the reviews and Reddit posts).

If a game isn't optimized well, not even a NASA PC can run it well.
umm, no one even plays fo76? whew you're gonna be surprised when you see the active users on Steam in a month, on bethesda it's still 30k concurrent every day.

30K isn't a lot, especially given the amount of people shut-in because of human maleware, and it doesn't change the fact that Fallout 76 is a travesty which proves that Bethesda is slowly murdering the series for profit at this point. People buying into it only makes it worse because the greed is being fed what it wants.
You people thinking you need to match fps to your refresh need to go get an education and get some real world experience in this field as well as common sense.
