Are you sure you replied to the right comment? I haven't said diddly squat about history. I know it's not how most consumers behave but it's still the right thing to do. Everything looks well and good on paper and I'm hopeful for a huge leap in consoles this generation.
Keep it in your pants until the hardware actually comes out and we see what it can do.
So far we've only heard about this sort of stuff on consoles. I really hope these features come to PC but I don't know if its possible for valve to implement a feature like quick resume on steam.
The next-gen Nvidia cards will come out before the new Xbox and the lower end (3060) will likely offer the same performance for $300-400.
no dedicated cpu/gpu/drive for capture/recording in xbone/ps4
consoles are optimized better because all the internals are the same...and not to mention games will look better and better over the life over that console generation because they learn to utilize it and squeak out as much performance as they can. PC on the other hand my graphics card will become less and less efficient as the games get more advanced because they release new components for ridiculous prices instead of optimize the ones you've already paid stupid money for...i was dumbfounded that my gpu cant get every single game @ a solid 60fps in 4k with settings turned up and i havent even used and rtx features yet...when you spend $1300 on just the graphics card you shouldnt have to compromise at all.
I've spent way more for and on my PC than I ever had to for gaming on my consoles...so PC is NOT cheaper than console for the purposes of gaming. I gamed on console for 35+ years and I can tell you for a fact that when I switched to PC things got way more expensive than when I Was on console...I get a laugh when PC people talk about PC being cheaper...cause they spend 4 or 500 and get the equivalent of my old PS2 to play on...console is way more efficient and cheaper for gaming than PC...this is a fact.
It kinda makes me face palm when people complain about how you have to pay for their console online service yet will spend ridiculous amounts of money for just the parts and still have to contend with people cheating frequently and dont see how ignorant that is. And if games arent on sale they are still expensive...if PC was cheaper than u wouldnt have to wait for a sale to buy a game you want because in reality physical discs should be more expensive than digital copies you dont even own and cant sell to someone else when you're done with it. But hey say PC is better because u can pick your own parts, and you don't have to pay an online service to maintain that service...you just deal with all kinda of issues and cheaters constantly
I will gladly buy a PS5 to play the games for that generation, and as a bonus will be able to play my entire library of PlayStation games from all previous generations. which is a lot...not to mention i wont have to use RCA cables on my old consoles to play those games in a much smaller box on my flat screen or use an old TV, or not have to buy a new flat screen that still lets you use RCA jacks...I have 4 TV's in my house and none of them have RCA jacks. My father had to buy a new 43 inch flat screen TV that actually had the jacks just to hook up his older consoles. Or emulate games on my PC which I aint doing...
Anyone? No? Just buy a new TV, that seems like the logical approach.
You have the entire internet at your fingertips, you could research what you're buying, and you are still 'shocked' and 'disapointed' in the performance of it?
Jesus.
You can buy a PC that competes with consoles for cheaper than them or the same price.
You don't have to pay for online services (except ISP), which while you cry isn't a valid point, brings the price of the console up.
PCs have countless use cases, where as a Console doesn't.
You cry about the price of a PC, but you're buying top of the line hardware, you can't compare that to consoles, it's a different league.
Also, a console can't do 2160p60fps, so I don't know where you pulled that from.
In the 1080's time, games were designed for very limited hardware in mind, that being the original consoles.
Also, settings were different back then. What was "Ultra" back then is now "High" and what Ultra settings are today are basically settings that offer a barely noticeable improvement to image quality and yet consume twice as gpu resources. Ultra settings are no longer balanced to be a practical setting for high end PCs. Now they are basically tech demos where the devs give you an option of removing any sensible limitation on the relevant graphic setting.
The solution is to have no shame in using settings that are practical. No, you don't need MSAA when you play at 4K. You don't need super realistic volumetric fog and ambient occlusion when they cut your fps in half.
