is the gtx 1050 3gb mobile enough for gaming in 2020?
Is my graphics card enough if I'm ok with playing in 900p 30fps+ with medium or higher settings?
I own an Acer nitro 5 model AN515-54-54W2
Intel® Core™ i5-9300H processor Quad-core 2.40 GHz
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 with 3 GB dedicated memory
15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 IPS
8 GB, DDR4 SDRAM

But don't expect too much, is quite a low-end GPU. You might have to drop the graphical settings of some games for a pleasant gaming experience.

Performance will vary by game, but it will run most games in 2020 under the criteria you've laid out.

I'd have to say no. I'm assuming OP means games being released in 2020 or maybe even 2019 at 1080p high to ultra settings. If we're talking old school games we might as well say a 1050 will be good enough for gaming in 2050 with all the games it runs now.

I mean why assume when you can read OP's post...

Not even mid... This isn't 1050 Ti, it's 1050, and it's MOBILE 1050, it can manage low settings on 720p, I have personal experience with this.

although if you just aim for 30 fps, then you might pull low-mid 900p.

Which is why I said mid-ish and also mentioned that the settings will have to be dropped further for some games.

mobile 1050 can't play any games in 1080p for 2020 practically... let's take borderlands 3 for instance, you can play it on low 720p, not anywhere near 1080p

I mean you can at 1080p all low setting for 30fps.

for 2020 games? dude, you can't even run rdr2 over like 20 fps with a regular 1050 on low settings, even on dx12.

1050 mobile, not 1050 desktop, there's a fairly big performance difference, your game will constantly dip below 20 fps in RDR2, 1050 isn't a 1080p card, 1050 ti is the lowest budget 1080p.

The RDR2 minimum requirement are very inaccurate. Also GTX 770 doesn’t get much support these day. I believe the REAL minimum requirement is RX550 or NVidia equal counterparts.

I have RX560X (almost no difference between laptop and desktop counterparts. Maybe 1-3fps difference). I can run RDR2 at x1x graphic and 90% resolution scale at 30-40fps. RDr2 is NOT that demanding. It’s actually very generous to low end system, imo.

you're comparing AMD to NVIDIA, very difference performance in every game, AMD runs better because it's literally optimized for Vulkan(that is Vulkan is optimized for AMD, not Nvidia, and DX12 runs better on AMD too for some games).

Except Vulkan is broken in RDR2. I run it on DX12. Better frames on that, but to be fair, both API are broken in RDR2. I get weird pixel artifacts on some texture indoor. For some reason, enabling FXAA seems to fix the majority of them.
