Bootable USB stick for Windows 10 ?

Hi !
So here is the thing...I ordered custom pc build and it will arrive next week but without windows on it !!!
So if I buy usb stick of 4gb is it enough or I need 8gb of usb stick???
I'm not sure how much memory I need to have so I can download it on my usb stick.

You will need a 8GB flash drive. Then download the Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website and use it to make a bootable Windows 10 installation flash drive.

Yes I suggest 16 or 32 GB ones.
Like something that supports usb 3.0
Go on a working pc, download the Win10 ISO using MS media creation tool. Download and run Rufus or ImgBurn to make usb flash drive bootable, formatted and transfer the iso contents. Then simply boot from this drive to start the Win10 os installer on any PC. Don't have a key yet? No problem, don't need one, you can skip this part during the install, then purchase and enter a product key within your installed os later on down the road. Or run the OS without any key, your choice. You can use the flash drive remaining space for storing files such as app downloads and drivers

I used an 8gb one to reformat my pc a few months ago.

As long as the drive is big enough to fit the Windows installation files it doesn't matter.

The Windows 10 installation files require slighly over 4GB. So you need a stick which can hold more then 4GB.

And flash drives are dirt cheap, you can pick up a 8GB-16GB one for $3.

Get 16gb so you have at least 8gb of space but don't go over 16gb. Format the USB to NTFS and then install the media creation tool.

why the 16GB limit?
the medica creation tool (or rufus) will format the drive.

i've been using 64GB usb flash drives to successfully install latest windows 10 on my very old PCs (intel core i3-530, i3-3240, i5-3570k, pentium g630, pentium g2030)

a 4GB stick was the amount needed at first, then now its allegedly 8GB, its still currently 8GB, but 4GB is still enough last time i installed it on a USB.

But as mentioned by others, USB sticks are cheap as hell nowa days, so theres no reason not to get a 16 or 32GB if able.

I used a 32GB SDHC memory card inside a USB 3.0 SD card reader to install Windows 10. Before this, that card used to be in my Digital Camera. Worked flawlessly for installation.

Of course, this was something I had left over, so I utilised it. If you don't have any Flash drives, buy at least a 32GB, don't bother buying anything smaller than this.

Because for old hardware of that sort u need to have a usb flash drive formatted as MBR + Fat32.

No it is 8gb. The iso is approximately 4.5gb
