bad performance for i7 8700k and gtx 1080 ti

Hello everyone, so recently I'm dealing with a problem that's annoying me so much, I've noticed lately that my pc on some games is less performant than before, for example in metro exodus I recall while at an extreme 2k, I was at 100 - 70 Fps, now it's unplayable. 45 - 55 Fps samely for shadow of tomb raider, performance drop. On the other hand, games like Dayz or PUBG or even Black ops 4, they are working fine as usual with no similar issues, even in 3dmark I've got the same score if not better this time than before, I've learned that Microsoft did some ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ with their last update, so I've been asking myself million questions, I've formatted my pc to be sure that everything was clear, suprisingly I've found the same problem, so I thought maybe it's the OC that needs to be set in default, same issue.. old windows build, same.. old nividia driver, same.. You have to know, recently i've changed the thermal grease, so I thought maybe a pin was not put correctly so disassembling and reassembling of my pc and guess what? same problem. I checked power supply unit, same, maybe it wasn't providing enough power for components, GTW 1080 Ti has 275 w I find it's correct and cpu has 90 w so it's correct. Seriously, I'm out of ideas and by the way I'm a computer specialist and i'm not stupid either, I know how a computer works, I asked some colleagues of mine and they did not understand the problem, so I turn ti the community, Help Please

Are you on the newest Nvidia drivers? if so i recommend rolling back to some older ones,the last 2 updates have caused a ton of performance problems and bugs for a lot of people, especially on the 10xx series of cards.

I recommend trying to go back to the 417.71 drivers from mid January, those seem to be the most stable.
The ones with the most problems are the 419.17 ones from the end of February.
Which could fit with your problems as that was 2 weeks after the release of Metro Exodus.

Apart from that you can try and monitor the temperatures of your card during those games, maybe there is a heat problem.

What is your PSU wattage size? Do you have the Power Supply Settings set to balanced? Do you have your GPU Set to Optimal?

What games are you playing that are not up to par with the GPU you have?

hello, i have a EVGA 850 80plus gold power supply, and settings set hight, and the game with poor performance metro exodus shadow of tomb raider, but pubg dayz and black ops 4 work correctly same for 3dmark a good score

Did you test to check the usage, and frequency of your hardware? I recommend using MSI afterburner with rivatuner, set it up to see the cores usage, and frequency, same with the GPU.

Do you by chance use GeForce experience? Do you have it auto set in-game settings for you.

It might just be the games themselves, not your hardware. PUBG looks likes it has always been a mess, and I don't really know anything about DayZ.

yes I also said that it is an optimization problem, but the problem is that people with the same config as me, they have a good fps better than mine

You said you formatted the OS, my question to you is that you didn't just apply the Drivers for the GPU alone, right? Did you also update the drivers for everything of that motherboard (All the Chipsets it supports)?

the frequency is good i have msi afterburner cpu 4.4ghz temps 50 and memory 3200mhz and GPU 1987mhz with 60 temps, dont have GeForce experience

I do not know how I could have 275w the other time, but clearly the graphics card it takes 180w and it's really little for a gtx 1080 ti

Did you try to run some high performance benchmarks to see how your GPU stacks up to others of its kind?
I dont talk about game benchmarks but benchmarks that only put max load on your GPU to make sure its nothing wrong with your card.

Benchmarks like 3D Mark "Timespy" or if you want free the "Superposition" bench.

The Windows update stuff was fixed 2 or 3 days ago, so make sure you got that update.

As for the rest
Set Power settings to Performance in Windows and in the NVIDIA CP
Fully disable Windows Game Mode stuff (this can cause issues as well)
Close any un-needed programs/processes running in the background
Just a few other things to try

Your GPU usage seems fine but the CPU usage seems a TAD low, but for a CPU of that class i guess it could be normal

Have you checked to make sure the GPUs clocks are properly raised in games? If the GPU isnt upping itself properly that can cause performance issues
