8GB of ram 3 GB usable.
I just installed a new SSD into my laptop, and I installed Windows 10 Pro. It says that I have 3.47GB of ram usable out of 8. This makes it almost impossible to mulitask because of how weak the system is. I've tried changing settings in the Msconfig, enabled the number of processors to 4, and I checked the box where it says maximum memory. That didn't work... I went into the advanced system settings and set no paging file for my C drive. That also didn't work. Those are all the fixes that I can see on the internet. What else can I do?

Specs:
AMD A4 5000 1.5 GHz
8GB DDR3 ram 1600 MHz
Radeon 8330

Well on the surface that sounds like a problem with running/installing the 32bit version of the OS. Can you confirm you're running 64bit in your system info? Just to rule out one dumb thing.

That's what I thought as well because I know 32bit only supports 3 GB of ram. But in system it says that it's a 64 bit OS with x64 based processor. This is the same flash drive I used to install Windows on my main PC as well, because that SSD is from my desktop that I just put in my laptop.

I've never had issues fixing this before until now. No clue what else I can do..

Sounds like you popped in an os SSD from old PC if so at least do a reset.

No. I don't know if you read what I said correctly. But I said, "I just installed a new SSD into my laptop, and I installed Windows 10 Pro."

"installed windows 10 pro"

I did connect my OS from my other computer to transfer certain files to a USB, but after that I formatted the SSD and reinstalled Windows 10.
Your CPU has an integrated GPU / iGPU (HD 8330). The integrated GPU shares part of your system memory and is using some of your system memory for it's self. You may have an option in the system's BIOS to alter how much of your system ram it uses and reduce it to get more system ram available for your use. But this will also at the same time reduce the performance of the iGPU in your system so.. you have to figure out a setting you like that balances both the performance of the iGPU and how much system ram you have free.

maybe one of these,

In bios you may find a memory map feature, make sure it is turned on.

or,

hold windows key and press R.
type msconfig
under boot tab, choose os and then advanced options
clear maximum memory check box, hit ok

This is kind of odd though, when I had my HDD it said that I have 8GB of ram with about 7.40GB usable. Which was perfectly fine by me. I can't really do anything in the Bios so that sucks, the most I can do is change boot order. Can't really chance much else.

I would rather appreciate if you actually read what I said because I could've sworn that I said that I did that... :| And when I did do that it didn't change anything, and in the msconfig it went ahead and reset the maximum memory to 0. But after many resets it finally says I have almost 7GB of ram usable which is fine by me now...

DDR3 junk it.

as the iGPU may be using system RAM, could that be the cause?

I think the unused cores "park" when not used so check out your power plan - try to change to high-performance profile and see if all cores come up in the task manager.

Maybe a memory module has worked loose? Re seated them?
I imagine some prodding was needed to replace HD

I'm not talking about the CPU....
