Trouble getting VG248QE to 144hz
I've been using an ASUS VG248QE monitor since around January with a HDMI up until now, with an Nvidia 1030. I saw a video which alerted me that my monitor could still only being running 60Hz if I didn't change the settings manually. As of now I'm using a dual link DVI, I've updated my drivers, tried changing the Hz on Nvidia Control Panel, tried changing it in the Windows settings, but they only display the option for 60Hz. Is there anything else I can try?

you need DVI-D dual link or Display Port for 144hz.

your cables are either the wrong type or knock offs

If you bought a cheap DVI-D Dual Link cable it probably doesn't have the full wiring. A common problem.

You also need to check that your 1030 is Dual Link capable. I doubt this will be the case.

VG monitors are usually hdmi 1.4 so although the gpu is likely to be hdmi 2, hdmi is out.

So DP is probably your only option.

having done a bit of research according to Nvidia the GT 1030 only supports

Maximum Digital Resolution 7680x4320@60 Hz
Standard Display Connectors DP 1.42, HDMI 2.0b, Single Link-DVI

so i think you are not going to be able to get 144hz natively especially with DVI cables.

there may be a work around if you use a Display Port cable assuming you 1030 has DP out but it really wouldn't be worth the trouble. the GT 1030 is not really suitable for high refresh rate gaming

Agreed, I believe with display port cable you can get 120hz but some users report blurry screens, the card is not built to support high refresh rates.

Ah ok, I'm using the DVI Dual Link cables that came with the monitor so I would hope they are the right ones, but if my GPU isn't good enough then that would be the issue. Thanks for the help.

Need to use DisplayPort cable.
Set Res & Refresh via Nvidia CP
Along with RGB + Full
I looked up in the actual manual for your monitor and like others have said you must use a displayport cable for your monitor to get to 144 Hz @ 1080p. It will not do 144hz over hdmi or DVI. Also do make sure you get a cable that is 8ft (or 3 meters) or shorter for 144hz. Longer cables will have signal problems and may not work correctly at 144hz.
