When changing to 144hz, screen goes black then it reverts back to 60hz?
I have a kogan 144hz 24" monitor, connecting via display port on the graphics card (msi gtx 1070) whenever i go into advanced display settings i notice its at 60hz, ill change it to 144hz and the screen will go black for about 20 seconds, show "No Signal" then come back and it will have reverted back to 60hz.

Tried all the refresh rates, they all revert back to 60hz

Have you tried the HDMI port just to see?.... note according to the manufacturers website the HDMI port only supports up to 120hz but still try this just to see if possibly a DP issue.

Already tried, if it means anything my nvidia control panel is missing, however all nvidia drivers are installed... Just trying to square out every problem

Are you sure your monitor is connected to the nVidia videocard and not the integrated Intel videochip? Are you sure your videodriver for the nVidia videocard is installed and up to date?

The nvidia driver is up to date (ver. 419.17)
There is no display port on the motherboard, only HDMI, and both HDMI ports still have the covers on them

Sounds silly but it's more common than people think

I have tried the HDMI port again after reinstalling the graphics drivers. It seems that i can display 120hz via HDMI. Its a displayport issue, probably related to the graphics driver somhow

The nvidia control panel is where the settings are made, so if its missing ............

It is reached by going to the control panel icon then the nvidia control panel, not the programs menu under nvidia.

The control panel folder is completely missing from the nvidia corporation folder, meaning it hasn't been installed with the driver at all

Check if

NVDisplay.Container.exe

is in

C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\Display.NvContainer

If it's not there try a clean install.

as its an AU brand i suppose
Is it possible its not a legit 120 or 144hz capable monitor?

has a different DP cable been tried?
an HDMI cable MAY support up to 144hz, but a DP fully supports it, so a different DP cable may be more helpful than trying with an HDMI.

Also, it says FreeSync Range is 44-144hz
So because you have an NVIDIA GPU its possible its one of the monitors that isnt supported with their new drivers.

I did spend premium price on a verified website.
Also i got 120hz to work with HDMI, so its an issue with display port.
