[answered]Intel i7 6700K overclocking
Afternoon all. I have a few questions about my new CPU - Google has failed me and I'm hoping somebody here can give me a straight answer.

I've got a 6700K paired with a strong Tower Cooler and sitting in massive airflow - 3X 140mm front fans and no bays or cages in the way. What kind of temperature should I expect, and what should I consider to be a dangerously high temperature? I haven't been able to find a straight answer online - I've heard everything from 65 to 115 as the maximum safe temperature.

Secondly, overclocking. It's a very powerful CPU, but 4.2 GHz seems a bit conservative. What kind of Clock Speed can I hope to achieve without needing to increase Voltages above stock levels?

I wouldn't run temps higher than 80-85C or voltage higher than 1.4v to avoid excessive stress on the CPU, especially for everyday use. The OC you will get is highly variable, you just need to experiment with your 6700K. You may get 0-200mhz more on stock voltage. Around 4.6ghz is a reasonably expected overclock with a little voltage increase. This is a good OC guide with a small database of people's OC results: http://www.overclock.net/t/1570313/skylake-overclocking-guide-with-statistics
Thanks, guys! That's exactly what I was looking for.
