Q55 - Memory Not Installed
Hello all,

I just put together a new computer as an upgrade, but upon booting up I get a black screen and the Q-Code displays 55, or in other words the 'memory is not installed.' I checked to make sure both sticks were in firmly and even swapped the modules around in the other slots and still get the error code. Hitting the MemOK button on the motherboard didn't do it either.

I'm thinking I either have dead RAM or RAM that is not compatible with my motherboard. The RAM is two modules of Corsair 32GB DDR4 2133 on an ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme.

16GB per slot is the max for that Motherboard

Also that is a very nice high end board; why put 2133 RAM on it?

Both of my modules are 16GBs for a total of 32GBs. But, looking through the MB book, the RAM I got is not listed as compatible, perhaps that's the problem?

And thanks, I have no experience overclocking to be honest with you.

That list is irrelevant; they can't test them all.

Quite honestly, I'd get better RAM; such as 3200
2133 is for the most basic of Motherboards, where that is basically all that is supported.
Seems such a waste of Board to use those on it.

ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme
4 DIMM Slots
• 1 DIMM: Supports one module inserted in any slot as Single-channel memory configuration. Install the module into A2 slot for better compatibility.
• 2 DIMM: Supports one pair of modules inserted into the same color slots as one pair of Dual-channel memory configuration. Install the modules into A2/B2 slots for better compatibility.
• 4 DIMM: Supports 4 modules inserted into both A1/A2 and B1/B2 slots as two pairs of Dual-channel memory configuration

Please test them one at a time. Wouldn't be the first time one within a kit was faulty.

Have the system powered off, but have the PSU main/standby power ready, press and hold MemOK button.
What voltage is the RAM?

E.g. My DDR4 runs at 1.425 Volts, and had to be installed a special way.

Just list the full Corsair model#
That'll answer anything regarding the RAM specs, timings, voltage...

Yeah, I installed the modules in those exact slots and in the other slots, no luck though.

Test them one at a time via just the A2-Slot.
Could have one faulty.

Also, did you try Reset CMOS on the board too?
