Does reducing GPU clock and memory speed reduce CPU bottleneck?
Does it actually help with CPU bottleneck? My PC has a Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 paired with an overclocked Athlon II X2 245 clocked at about 3.22GHz. Now in some games like Far Cry 3, my rig does very well and in some case, the GPU usage actually exceeds the CPU usage. But in more CPU intensive games like BF3 and GTA V, the game stutters like hell. Especially GTA V, I believe the GPU usage is about 20-30% while the CPU usage is pretty much maxed out. So should I reduce the clock speed for these game?

No, it wouldn't.

GTA V actually recommends a quad core processor, your processor is a dual core. The CPU is at 100% and the GPU is 20-30% because the CPU is struggling to put complex scenes together (for want of a better explanation) to then send this data to the GPU to render the graphics.

A tell tale CPU bottleneck is one exactly like yours with a CPU maxed out and GPU with a much lower usage. Basically, the GPU it sitting there waiting for the CPU to give it data to render.

Now if you upgraded the CPU but not the GPU, and then tried to up the graphics settings, you would have another bottleneck, but in the opposite direction. See what I mean?

Down clocking the GPU won't help if the CPU is reason for the bottleneck.

It's a poor system all round, you should probably start saving up to build a new PC.

Even if you reduce GPU clocks to the point CPU is not bottlenecking anymore - then, obviously, you'll have GPU bottleneck. There's no such thing as "good bottleneck", running either GPU or CPU close to 100% usage is bad, as it can cause stutters and input delay. The thing you want is proper framelimiting, like the one used in RTSS. Your CPU is weak for GTAV, that's out of question I think, but you might be able to get at least stable and smooth 30 fps.

Thanks, but GTA V will crap its pant anyway when I run it anyway. But I'll build another rig soon. It's not amazing by any mean but it'll be a hell of a lot better than my current build.

Wish you a nice hardware then!
