Slow download speed
I've been getting really bad download speeds recently and I don't exactly know why, I used speedtest.net on my main system. I'm getting about 9mbps, but that obviously ain't right because my download speeds are in the KBs... My second PC is getting 1mbps. My phone is getting 2mbps with a 0.14mbps upload speed. Yesterday I reset my router and it fixed the issue for the rest of the day. Next day when I get home from school it's slow as hell.. I don't know what else to do. utorrent download speeds are around 300KB, on the internet it's somewhere in the KB, and on steam it's hardly even over a MB. But my parents are paying for 25mbps.

What else can I do to fix this? I can't exactly call my service provider because I'm not the home owner, nor am I paying for this.

I've reset my drivers
I've reset the router
I tried ethernet

nothing works. I can't even finish downloading 5GB left of my file, which will take 3 hours...

steam game downloads do not just use the download, they also use cpu and hdd to decompress files during steams 'download' processes

steps
1. allocate space on the disk "disk usage'
2. populate files 'download'
3. uncompress 'cpu and disk usage'
4. move from dwonload to steamapps 'disk usage'

there is a line on steams download page to show disk usage along with download speed

It's not just Steam.... it's everything. I'm assuming you didn't read what I said and just skimmed through.

if you are getting slow download or high pings with wifi devices, its more likely the router or wifi interference

2.4ghz has longer range, but more devices easily interfere
cordless phones, cell phones, other wifi networks, microwave oven, florescent lights, cfl lights/monitors, bt devices/controllers ect

5ghz has shorter range and fewer devices interfere with it
mainly microwave oven, cfl lights/monitors, walls
