1 syringe/tub of 1 gram Kryonaut how many applications on Intel mainstream CPU?
Hi. My friend has replaced his heat-paste with Kryonaut but make the claim (which I thought was a joke at first and maybe it is but it's becoming a bit long running now...) that he dumped the whole content onto his 8700K.

If so how much of it do he have on the sides of it by now when he's mounted the cooler and it's been running for a while / how many applications is 1 gram useful for normally?

A pea size drop is good enough.

1 full gram is a bit much.

You don't use the whole thing... Using too much paste can actually make it an insulator of heat and make the CPU run hotter as heat is getting trapped in the thick paste and not being properly transferred to the cooler. So he just wasted a lot of money if he used the ENTIRE 1g tube.

1 gram should be plenty for around 3 to 4 applications i would of thought

More than that even.

I would say a minimum of 6 or 7, actually. I've went through 1g tubes with at least that many uses.

Well he could still be joking assuming I'd react like "you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retard" which I haven't so we haven't made a big deal about it but then again he may think it's a fun joke and just sticking with it. Personally I don't feel it's much of a problem for me if he's got a bunch of it beside the heatspreader by now and at-least it's supposed to not conduct electricity but of course it could still become a mess physically.

I also don't think replacing the Noctua NH-T1 or whatever it's called with it should make much of a difference anyway? Like 2 degrees or so maybe? But he had removed the cooler and just reseated it before so maybe doing it right as far as cleaning up and reapplying it would help regardless of whatever he used the old one or the new one.

2 degrees may not sound like much but paste can make a difference when it comes to overclocking. NT-H1 was regarded as a really good paste for overclocking.
