Overclocking is basically trial and error until you find the right clocks and voltages, and going above the default settings will lower the lifespan of the card because you're forcing higher voltage through the card when you're overclocking, especially since 550 Ti cards don't really have amazing cooling to begin with as it's an ancient budget card.

If the card gets fried, it's not much of a loss because it's only a 550 Ti, which is surpassed by the iGPUs in Ryzen desktop APUs by a pretty significant margin, and any overclock you can pull off will not make it much better at all. They're a dime a dozen.

don't mess with the voltage. you would be lucky if you get more than 910mhz on the core without it crashing. i got my old 560 to 935mhz but from what i read back in the day that was a pretty high clock that not many reached. you won't be getting much extra performance in modern games with that gpu

Well OP must be extremely lucky since Cyclone II comes with 950MHz : https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/N550GTXTi_Cyclone_II_1GD5OC/Specification
Techpowerup reached 1058MHz : https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GeForce_GTX_550_Ti_Cyclone_II/26.html

GTX550Ti baseclock is 900MHz while GTX560 is 810MHz, so you cant really compare it.

yea ok fair enough. shoulda done my research.. i assumed it would have a similair clock to the 560. even still overclocking the snot out of it won't yield much of a performance boost
