Is my i5 6500 still good enough for gaming?
Or should I upgrade it? Full specs are on my profile but they aren't completely accurate because I just bought a new SSD and extra 16gb ram.

If its only for gaming, yes..

but 8gb ram, well would upgrade to 16gb. Nothing more.

If it plays your games good enough for you then why worry about it if not then wait for ryzen 3xxx and move on.

Only you can really say if it's good enough or not, does it do what you want it to? If yes, then you are fine, if not, and you can afford it, upgrade.

But don't upgrade for the sake of keeping up with others if you are happy with the performance.

Not really. It's only a 4 core CPU.

So? While it won't max stuff out at high refresh, if he's happy with the performance that's fine, if someone was building new, sure, a 4 core is a bad idea, but if you have it, and it does what you want....

It's not really a good CPU nowadays though. It struggles to get 60fps in newer titles. If that's ok with the OP that's fine.

Can you, please, name some of them? Preferably with benchmark links.

It dependes on your gpu. I have the same cpu but it was struggling with a 1060, so I updated it to a 7600k

It depends on the games and framerates he wants to achieve in those games. GPU doesn't give a single crap about his CPU and otherwise.

I'm able to get 60fps+ in games like GTAV on high/very high so can you please provide some examples?

it's fine just i'd get an i5 6600, then you'd a have a good cpu or you could try and Turbo,
your cpu, plus 16gb of ram is needed

also gta 5 isn't a good game to start with, so try running ark survival evolved, if you have a good gpu as well

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6600-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6500/3514vs3513

also are you using windows 7 or 10?, if your using 10 i'd jump to i5 7600

Going from one quad to another quad makes no sense in 2019.

The 4790k is a 4 core 8 thread CPU though.
