Recommendations for reputable Delidded CPU Vendor
Another use for my 9700k just popped up and I'd like to throw a delidded 9900k in it's spot.

Aside from Silicon Lottery, any other vendors you folks could recommend?

Not really, delidding and lapping / sanding the 9000 series isn't as easy as previous chips, to the point that just delidding won't have large gains (around 5c, good if your pushing tjmax for benchmarks, not so useful for everyday use) , unless your right on the edge, you need to sand down the actual die without killing the chip to see any real gains, you would probably be better off buying a binned chip if you don't want to roll the dice.

Most seem capable of 5-5.2GHz anyway, so, if the added price of a binned chip is worth it, is questionable as they can double in price.

Edit.
Not sure on stock or availability, but you could try overclockers. Co. Uk they ship internationally and have a 1 year warranty, it's who I got my 7900x from, or caseking. De in germany who I believe will also ship anywhere.

Right on, Monk.

I'll look into Overclockers, De & Caseking.

The binning value on the SL site was exactly why I asked. They certify a binned 9900k @ 5.1 GHz for ~$850. I know they have to charge the time and what-not. But I'm not seeing a $300 value in certifying what is basically expected performance.

That said, I am actually very interested in shaving off that last few degrees. I wound up suspending a 120mm can right behind the CPU on the MoBo when I wasn't really considering the delid.

Now.....well my cooling loops are so overbuilt I will never hit thermal saturation. So it really is down to what I can leech through the IHS.

Not for 24\7, but I do plan to OC this whole system till it squeaks, for bechmarking.

*Maybe down the road, I might give the full die sanding treatment a whirl, but I don think that bravery test is on the current roster. Springing for the Dellid I can handle.

MankSoulja,

Did you buy a chip from SL? Or just pulling down the link for me?

Appreciated either way.

*edit: Dammed auto spell on the phone

Honestly I'm perfectly happy with my 9900k at stock performance wise, only ocing I've done was a quick test at 5.1 / 5.2GHz and hit 5.3 at 1.35v, it crashed on cine bench on the latter, but that was literally setting the voltage and going for the multiplier in like 10 minutes lol.

I mean it got hot at 5.3, but I'm pretty sure I could get it stable later on especially when I go custom loop later in the year (hopefully), the gains for delidding might be tried when I go custom, hell, I'll be honest, if I go to do my loop I'll probably go the whole hog and get it sanded (seeing as I'd have the spare cash to cover an oh poop moment then lol), but I'm not expecting anything like my 7900x results, it being delided let me get to 5GHz for benching on a chip that normally can only get to 4.5 or 4.6 due to heat, plus the 4.8 bin of it only cost around £150 extra, so it wasn't as extreme cost wise.

Though, I'll be honest, kind of sucks how my 9900k pretty much kicks my 7900x bum for half the price lol.

I don't think that delidding is necessary on a 9700K. There isn't a big difference.
