BIOS?

Hello. I made some money and thought that it would be a great idea to put a PC together. I was checking all my part compatibility on the internet and even asked the tech support on a local store if my parts will go together. They all said that they will work fine for sure and that I can buy them without a doubt. *Insert "well, that was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lie" meme here* When I got all my parts and put them together (Multiple tutorials on Youtube), the MB's Ez debug lights showed me that the CPU is not found. Of course I was really angry as I, as an under-aged student can't make enough money to start this whole thing from beggining. (To be continued...)

MSI a320m gaming pro MB

AMD Ryzen 3 2200g

HyperX Fury DDR4 8GB ram

All my PC psu wiring is checked and are plugged in correctly.

So I searched the internet about my problem and asked several people for help. The answer I got was that the Ryzen 2200g doesn't go together with the a320m MB, because it doesn't have the right BIOS for the new gen. Also they told me that I should get me a refund on my MB or get a BIOS updater boot kit from the AMD company (I can't do neither, as I have lost my reciept for buying the MB). Now I was just furious and just gave up on the whole PC-making-stuff.

Weeks past and the PC case got covered in dust. One day at school, I told my friend (He has some knowledge on putting PC's together) about my whole situation. He told me that I can update my BIOS without the boot kit, instead using a regular USB stick that has the BIOS inside it. I really don't get it how it works (As without the CPU not working I can't see anything on the desktop), but that gave me a hope that it might actually work.

Can anyone tell me if thats possible? I can't work as I am under-aged and the money I spent for the PC, was saved by me in the past 2 years. I really don't want to have wasted my money on something that I can't even use!

Afaik no a320 board has support for USB Bios Flashback.

1) as far as i know

Sorry to tell you, but in order to flash the BIOS to accept the CPU you would need a CPU the board is compatible with by default If you cant get it to POST

And if you need info, go to the MSI site, dont rely on a different manufacturers info unless you want to screw something up

Make it easy,, return the terrible motherboard and get a b450m model instead, it would also help alot to go with 2x8gb ddr4-3000 ram

As I said, I cant return it as i dont have the reciept. As far as the RAM goes, ill buy another stick of 8gb ramm when i get some money

Will it hurt to try to flash it on my current state? If it damages something it will be only the MB right? I have a feeling i have to change it anyway so it wont hurt to try

Request the bios flash kit from amd.com

You can't update the bios in current state, as it requires supported cpu already to power on and post

ugh as i stated in my post, i cant get it as they want me to send them a reciept of my mb to check if im not just lying. i losst it so cant get it

You have only 2 options.

1. Buy a new MB.
2. Buy one of these: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113446
Install it, flash the bios, install 2200g return the Athlon.

Fam, the 2200G requires BIOS 7A39v19 and the 200GE needs 7A39v19 too. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/A320M-GAMING-PRO#support-cpu

Then he needs one that is supported by the current outdated by years bios, solution remains the same.

Alternatively just get a 1st gen Ryzen like a 1600, same price as the 2400g and you get 6c/12t - although not ideal it is not bad for $145

OP has no discrete GPU, neither does he have $145 for another CPU.
