FreeSync and Nvidia
Hello everyone, So yesterday i bought a FreeSync Monitor (Samsung ls24f350fhmxue) 24 inch, It has FreeSync Feature, But i hear that it won't work with Nvidia but only with AMD, So i tried enabling FreeSync on my Monitor, But i had no effect, Does that harm/damage My Monitor or cause problems?

Nvidia recently enabled a Freesync compatibility feature to allow users to use Freesync. They're calling it G-Sync Campatible. Only a few Freesync monitors Nvidia tested pass their tests. Those Displays will auto enable G-sync compatible mode when driver installed.

Other Freesync monitors can work but there may be issues along flicking and such. To enable it on these you need to manually use Nvidia control panel to turn it on.

You'll need the latest driver to try it currently 417.71

1. nVidia added FreeSync report with the driver release on January 15th.
2. No, even if there were no support, nothing would happen as it would be used only if monitor and videocard support it.

Also you need to enable "G-Sync/G-Sync compatible" on nvidia control panel.
Bear in mind that it is only supported on 10 and 20 series nvidia gpu's

It's working great with my 1070ti

Oh and just an FYI if your screen flickers when you enable it try turning your refresh rate down. Mine flicks to a black screen until I turn other screen off and then only comes back for a second. Only way to prevent it is to drop refresh rate to 120hz instead of 144hz. Works fine then

I have 60 hz though

Well then you shouldn't have the high hz issue I had then :steamhappy:

Yeah but i cant enable FreeSync, I dont have a Option to Enable it. I tried restarting my PC, but There is no Option, I dont see "Monitor Technology" in the Manage 3D Settings Tab, and I dont see anything saying "G-Sync"

How is your monitor connected? Forgot to say it'll only work if monitor and GPU are connected by Displayport.

It shows up as "adaptive sync technology" not "Monitor technology" . And you are looking in the Nvidia control panel correct? *right click on desktop to access.

You will likely have to enable Freesync on the monitor itself as well.

I'm using HDMI, And i have FreeSync Enabled on the Monitor, There is no Option for Adaptive Sync Technology as well

The Freesync feature won't work then. You need it connected via DP. If it's not connected via DP then the option won't even show in Nvidia Control Panel.

If you can connect via DP do that. As sawdust pointed out you may need to enable Freesync on the monitor itself too. Not all need it turning on in the monitor settings so you'd have to check.

It is turned on, On the Monitor Settings too. But anyway thanks for the help.

Most important part is that you need to also connect via DisplayPort not HDMI.
