You are currently running a 3 year old driver + all the issues which come with running outdated GPU drivers.
Install 18.5.1 (Stable) or 18.7.1 (Unstable). Don't update, wipe the old drivers with DDU and install the new ones.
You need to make sure the GPU is properly configured in the Crimson Control Panel if you are having issues with it not switching to the discrete chip.
i never had any troubles updating my gpu drivers by uninstallation of the older drivers and installation of the newer one without using DDU. i think nvidia and AMD know best how to install/ uninstall thier drivers. what is better with DDU? i think nothing. and in earlier days the use of, for example, registry cleaners was sometimes a big trouble, because the registry cleaner deleted data that would have been necessary for windows to run( i noticed that in windows XP times ~15 years ago).
my question is: why do I need DDU?
btw: in the software is a "donate" function. i think this is all the person who was programming the software wants from the user of DDU.
i dont want to be offensive. i just doubt that this software is necessary. what do you say? sometimes i become angry when i see software like DDU with "donate" button, because i doubt that this software is needed.
kind regards
DDU cleans ALL possible files of the driver.
If you uninstall it normally through Windows, it may leave some files behind that will mess with the new.
It simply makes it sure the driver installation is completely fresh.
DDU is a great program to have and has fixed countless of driver problems that may have arised from installation gone wrong or old drivers still persisting even after normal uninstall.
DOnate is there because the person is doing such a great job for free and offering the program for free. He has used his free time to make a useful program that helps with huge amount of issues.
So if user feels like it, they can donate to support his work.
Of course you can just uninstall the drivers normally through Windows. But as I said, that can leave some files and registry behind which will mess up with the new installation.
DDU just simply makes it as if the driver never was there. And you can make a complete fresh install.
So using it in this case is a precaution. Otherwise it's used as a fix for various problems.
kind regards
You should check form the amd site for a newer driver for that exact card ( I see a 2018 for the m265 listed) and try to update it vs the lenovo site which doesn't always get the updated revisions listed. It will fail if you select an incompatible one or if Lenovo software locks you out of updating it. If it does try a different compatible version till you get one that goes through and try to uninstall your current one before trying again.
