8GB RAM and virtual memory
Hi guys, I've recently changed my hard disk, and today I discovered that Windows 10 (64 bit) automatically set up the virtual memory to 2304 MB. Isn't that too low? If I don't mistake the virtual memory should be like 1.5x the amount of physical RAM, but I'm not an expert in this field.

Again, i put "automatically manage paging file dimension for all units" in the settings, so I didn't touch anything. What do you guys say, should I leave it as it is, or should I change it?

What's the size of the drive? Usually, Windows is pretty competent at giving a size to it's page file.

Hmm. I have a 500GB SSD, which is trimmed down to 418GB total from overcompensating and all the other shenanigans, and my current page file is at 16384MB, with the recommended value being 2939MB. All system managed.

Is the "drive" being set for virtual memory not a small partition of your 1TB drive? Or simply a different drive? Are you checking your virtual memory on a screen like this?:

The pic above is not mine, but yet, he gets 2GB off an 80GB drive.

Now, if you want, you can set the size yourself, and in whatever drive you want for it.

It's not necessarily too low because you gotta first understand what and when the page file is used, and a lot of tweakers go around the 2-4gb range and set it manually vs letting it be system managed which tends to be over the top a lot of the time. It's user specific, some people will even turn it off completely but some programs really like it being there and cause errors so it ends up being what programs are being used and how much ram you have available in the first place.

When set to automatically manage the amount will raise according to usage, what its showing is whats currently being used.

keep it at automatic, its fine
