Why temperatures on 7700K are so stupid?
45 degrees on desktop, you launch program or game and temperature instantly jumps to 75 degrees and goes back to 45 degrees in literally 2 seconds. How can this CPU heat up by 30 degrees and cool down back to 45 degrees so damn fast? It doesn't even make any sense lol, for example if you look at GPU, it starts to get warmer once you get into game and it slowly rises temperature by 1 degree every few seconds, meanwhile CPU temperature just jumps all over the place from 50 to 80 degrees each second, how does this work?

I can actually understand the temperature spike because voltage and clock jumps from 800MHz to 4.8Ghz but how does it get back to idle temperature in literally few seconds once you close the game? I have no idea

Just so you know, the maximum temperature of the 7700K per Intel specifications is 100c for tjcmax. This means that the chip is perfectly safe up to and anything below 100c, per Intel design specifications. In fact any motherboard that is capable of running the 7700K has automatic thermal management built in, to the point that even if you get to 100c with a 7700K, it will just reduce the clock speed and remain there all day long. The chip is rated to run 100c constantly for the entire duration of the initial warranty period.

75c is well within the safe threshold for this chip and you should be happy your 7700K is only doing 75c under load. 75c is very good and quite acceptable for a 7700K chip. The 7700K would do 100c constantly on the intel stock cooler that shipped with it.

then look at a GPU cooler and the CPU cooler. besides unlike the GPU the CPu is allowed to reach 100C.
your temperatures are normal. get a betetr CPU cooler or delid the CPU.

AIO? Is your pump set to 100% or is it running a fan curve. Cause it should be 100%.

I dont know why you think a cpu cooler should run at 100% but no. It should run as slow as possible while maintaining acceptable temps. and those temps are accaptable.

The water pump should. The fans can run on a curve

they are, but it doesn't make sense that temperature can jump by 40 degrees in just one second and then get back to 40 degrees once you close cinebench

it does... major heat producer is the voltage and next the clock... and sicne you nto overclockign they are alls et to adaptive which emans they stay low in no usage and in a split second raise when the performance is needed which then also means with a raise in clock and voltage in a split second, so will the CPU.

Common thing with 7700k I hated it so upgraded my cooler. The spikes are well you said why. If you dont like the spikes you have several options.

Change cpu.
Set it to a constant vcore. No changes in volts means it'll run hotter all the time, voltage wont spike when core ramps up but it wont drop either.
Better cooler
Delid
Move to cooler climate or live in a cold climatechamber :p

Im saving delid till I OC more in the future. Right now I settled for the spikes with a better cooling setup. Though until this hot weather it was rare to spike to hit 70-75 usually =<69.

On the plus side you could be running it hotter constantly without any throtting or danger.

I will delid it once warranty is over, gonna buy my first ever AIO cooler next week because the current one is good for i5 OCed or locked i7 but not good enough for this hot bastard

It's because the fan needs to catch up to whatever temprature you've set it to being a big overclock with extra voltage. Try different fan settings and try reseating your cooler.

since when did they ship a cooler with the 7700k?

I was thinking of some of the other chips, my mistake.. no stock cooler with the 7700K.

That doesn't change anything else I stated though.

yea i wasnt bashing your comment :) i agree with what u said i was just confused cos i didnt think intel supplied coolers for k chips. i dont really keep up to date on these sorts of things so i thought maybe they changed..

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117369

The 4790K was the last Intel K chip to come with a stock cooler I think, unless the newer i3's come with a cooler.. I just looked and I don't think they do either.
