Download Speed issues
Hello.
About a day ago when i checked to download a game on Steam, it said that my download speed is 340kb/s and it would take 17 hours to finish, but then today when i check, my download speed has dropped back to 45kb/s, is there a way to get it back up to 340kb/s again?

youtube offers acceptable (though still bad) translation of the closed captioning...

Thats his device. You can check that its also the same ISP as the one listed in the screen shots.

His *might* be an updated model of the same thing, as the video lists it as a 3G device not LTE, but its probably the exact same principle.

Def *not* DSL...
Ok well thanx for clarification. That's even worse then most dsl.

And again, nothing the OP can do to their systems/devices to help aid in having better overall Internet connection / speeds. It is what it is...

3G also makes more sense given the speed tests. Most 4G/LTE would usually net you better speeds at least.

I can get upwards of 50 down and 50 up in usa on my 4G LTE phone and tablet.

$g can be pretty hit and miss. I have to support the IT side of some temp pop-up locations for a retail company durring holidays. We have invested in pretty pricey devices called Cradlepoints that are more or less hot-spots on steroids. Dual giant paddle antenas and all. They get setup in malls. Durring most of the season they get anywhere from 15-80mbps depending on time of day and such. Durring peak days when the towners are swamped we can have full bars and be *lucky* to get 1.5mbps,,, On the same towers that early morning pull 80...

All down to how congested it is at the time :/
Actually, DSL is worst than LTE+. I knew that service, LTE+ is not consistent speed internet all the time.
lte+ may have higher peak download speeds, but dsl will have consistent ping

most mobile isps block gaming ports
Depends on the DSL.

When I first got dsl and left dialup back around 1998-99 or so it was only 768kbps, then later on it was freely upgraded to 1.5mbps. Then later on it eventually got upgraded to 7.5mbps all at no extra charges.

7.5mbps was fine but this was back in like 2004. Then I switched to Comcast and paid less for 25mbps. By 2015-16 our Comcast was giving us approx 250mbps

I actually just jumped from comcast on their 110/10 plan to centurylink DSL on their 100/10 plan.

Effectively get the same service but at about half the price with no contract.

Not *all* DSL is crap. Though I will admit that this si still not quite 100% as good as the comcast was, but for such a reduced price more than worth the minor and rare issue.

Which DSL is that? Sounds more like Business ADSL then Consumer Home DSL. You sure it's not a Fiber ISP?

100% sure. I live in apartments. Its bonded pair using POTS lines out of the complex. Each pair carries a 50/5 connection that is bonded by the ISP. They had to send a tech on install who tested multiple lines out to find ones that had the connection quality to sustain the bonded pair.

Def seems to be on the edge of what they can push on traditional phone lines, but in the end, thats all that is connected, a single line from the wall on a regualr phone line connection.

Exactly, that's not standard DSL.
Consumer dsl uses a single line 2 wires and tops out at approx 10/1.

A single wall plate + single phone cable can consist of 1 actual line or 2. Sounds like yours uses 2 lines to help increase the speed and once it reaches the dsl modem it bridges them together to make up your actual bandwidth.

First. Its residential class to an apartment. I have actually asked about buisness class. Not provided at my address.

Also. Yes it uses bonded pair.

Each line pulls 50/5 which is still well above 10/1...
So, any ideas?
