Download Speed issues

Hello.
About a day ago when i checked to download a game on Steam, it said that my download speed is 340kb/s and it would take 17 hours to finish, but then today when i check, my download speed has dropped back to 45kb/s, is there a way to get it back up to 340kb/s again?

That's weird, Bad Motha...As I have never had those kinds of problem in steam, not before today. This is the first time ever that it has been like this. That's why I'm kinda dumbfounded.

I would just move on. You can't "fix" the issues you experience.

You have crap slow isp. That's the reality of it.

I emptied my download cache, don't know if it fixed the problem but after that my speeds rose again.

Yes, delete the web cache and download cache via client settings about once a month.

Fios gig user near the city, some days are great over 90+MB/s and others less than 30. Not much you can do, sometimes the steam servers are really busy, sometimes not.

Best you can do, kick it off just before bed and wake up to your freshly downloaded game

And yes, as before, i should state to newer users reading this thread that i don't live near a city, and maybe that's why my internet is bad, but i'm not sure that this is the problem as there might be some kind of another problem.

OK, so crappy interenet confirmed.

Best you were able to pull would was about 1mbps or about 100KB/s...

Looks like steam is already downloading faster than your connection wants to give you to begin with. Time to get better net, or work with what you have (not much sadly).

The either issues are:
1. I don't live in a city, and maybe that's why my internet is so bad.
2. It's very possible that it's a different problem.

Are you connected DIRECTLY to the modem? if not connect directly to the modem and do the test again. Yes, it can make a absolutely gigantic difference. Might also be the same but to be absolutely positive you need to be connected directly to the modem for your true speed.
