Is a 2060s a good choice for 1080p 165hz?
What do y’all think?

You will not be able to get 165 FPS in many games. At least my RTX 2070 (not super) is too weak for that high FPS. If you want to play at max settings (without raytracing, but with such power hungry tech as Hairworks), your min FPS can be less than 60. For instance in Witcher 3.

1080p would be a smarter choice though yeah to get better FPS?

I prefer 1080 with better graphics than 1440 with worse.

Depends on the games. E-sports titles, online shooters, MOBA games and that sort of stuff - sure. AAA games with tons of graphical features - even 2080 Ti will struggle.
Best stick to 60FPS unless you mostly play competitive games. Yes, higher frame rates look exceptionally better than 60HZ, but unless you've seen them first hand it's hard to imagine anything smoother looking than 60FPS, unlike resolution where you can always imagine there being a crisper image.

Best get a higher hz monitor when games start opitimising their games for higher frame rates as they likely will next generation with the new consoles targetting 120FPS. Again, you don't know what you're missing if you haven't played above 60HZ, so ignorance is bliss in this case and it'll save you both money and performance worries. When one of the best cards on the market can hardly hit 165FPS on most games at 1080p, is it really worth it?

also depends on the cpu

I'd aim for a 2070 Super

...or at least a 2070 vanilla, or perhaps a 5700XT as a budget pick - which is exactly what I did to max out my 1080/144 performance on the cheap. No regrets, but man it does generate quite a bit of heat!

RTX 2060 is the best 1080p card for any current game gen. It can be a nice day 1440p card for some game that’s older than 4 years. But I’ll just get RX5600XT because the RTX feature isn’t really that worth it. But if you want a better bang for your bucks, RTX 2070 is a solid choice.

120hz probably, but not 165.

I don't want to open another extra thread, so I'm just gonna ask here:

I also, got myself an EVGA RTX 2060 super. It's paired with an i5-9400F, 32GB DDR4. Will it be enough to run most games on 1080p / 120fps ?

(another humble: does anyone know a good guide how to setup monitors in the nvidia conrol
panel for stuff like g-sync, etc.?)

You just enable it. Simple as that.

Then you want MSI Afterburner + RTSS so you can adjust gpu, monitor it and have on screen options as well as a way to limit fps without vsync or similar.
