Or do the Nuclear option:
First. Backup the existing hard drive. Make a second backup. Also copy any wanted data to a different backup. Then make sure the USB is bootable. From the booted USB Windows, format the hard drive and install from scratch.
Basically I have a pirated version of windows that uses KMS
My opinion is that reformatting is the safest. Who knows what maleware they put on it. Probably nothing, they just wanted the money from the sale.
From the bios/uefi boot menu, make sure USB comes first. Then change it after the install.
If the USB booted Windows allows you to delete the whole hard drive partition, then do that. Make a new partition and then format it. That will erase more of the hard drive.
I curious what if I didn't pick the USB option and go for the upgrade windows?
