Using a legit windows 10 key on cracked version
I had my desktop built at the store and was told windows will be installed for me. At first I didn't think much of it but just a few days I've been getting popup saying my windows licence is going to expire. I went to call up the store wanting to know what's up and got told it was a cracked version and gave me a link. But I was thinking if I used a actual windows key will it work? Will is spoil anything?

Windows cracks often come bundled with malware. Reinstall Windows don't risk it. It's not that hard to do, we can guide you through the process if you want, all you need is a flash drive.

And tell the people at that store that they are idiots, Windows 10 can be used without a license key and does not need to be cracked. A cracked version of Windows will cause you more issues then an unactivated one.

Agree best bet just reinstall win10, I do that on every device I use just to get rid of crapware (esp on laptops)...

That is what crackers exploit to activate Windows. They make Windows think it's activated using KMS.
yup i was wondering what that KMS was anyway now i know. im installing windows into my flash drive now and im gonna buy a key off ebay

Installing fresh copy of Windows 10 from Windows 10
It probably sounds dumb asking here but I've been going around youtube with no avail. You have have seen an earlier post here of how I found out the store that built my pc installed a cracked version of windows. So now I want to do a fresh install of windows. I got a product key, and windows is being installed into my flash drive as we speak but once its done what do I do? Do I go to setting in my windows or I need go to the Boot Menu when I start up my pc.

You could just change the activation code to the legitimate one. done.

Or do the Nuclear option:
First. Backup the existing hard drive. Make a second backup. Also copy any wanted data to a different backup. Then make sure the USB is bootable. From the booted USB Windows, format the hard drive and install from scratch.

I see. I used something similar once. Formatting the hard drive may not get rid of that. It may not hurt anything to still be there. See if that program comes with an uninstaller. The one I used did.
My opinion is that reformatting is the safest. Who knows what maleware they put on it. Probably nothing, they just wanted the money from the sale.
From the bios/uefi boot menu, make sure USB comes first. Then change it after the install.
If the USB booted Windows allows you to delete the whole hard drive partition, then do that. Make a new partition and then format it. That will erase more of the hard drive.

okay its now 98% now hope all of this works out haha you got no idea the amount of stuff i went through even had to email ebay and paypal relating to this haha

Install Win10 legit by making your own usb flash drive using the media creation tool from ms official Win10 website. Then input your key after the install has completed

You don't install to flash drive. You create the usb installer media boot drive using the MS media creation tool. Then after creating boot from this usb, wipe the ssd or hdd of all partitions, then install the os
