Using a legit windows 10 key on cracked version

I had my desktop built at the store and was told windows will be installed for me. At first I didn't think much of it but just a few days I've been getting popup saying my windows licence is going to expire. I went to call up the store wanting to know what's up and got told it was a cracked version and gave me a link. But I was thinking if I used a actual windows key will it work? Will is spoil anything?

What sort of agreement you have with the store? Was there a windows license in the agreement/bill?

Windows cracks often come bundled with malware. Reinstall Windows don't risk it. It's not that hard to do, we can guide you through the process if you want, all you need is a flash drive.

And tell the people at that store that they are idiots, Windows 10 can be used without a license key and does not need to be cracked. A cracked version of Windows will cause you more issues then an unactivated one.

This. There is NO reason to use a cracked version of windows except to cause issues.
I cannot imagine any legitimate store actually doing this. Its downright illegal and could easily end up with the store being dumped in a ton of legal issues.

We have the option of keeping it by creating a windows.old, but your files will need to be manually copied back after the install. Your programs you will have to reinstall but personal files we can easily keep.

It is of course best to just copy the files somewhere else while reinstalling, just in case something goes wrong.

Then I have never worked for nor found a legitimate IT store.

The majority of them work with pirated software. Be it something as simple as agreeing to repair a cracked copy of Windows or going as far as installing a cracked copy of Windows.

Most repair stores are filed with unpaid idiot interns who don't give a crap about selling software illegally.

Oh yeah if thats the case i can just copy all my personal files into my hard drive anyway I know i can easily just go to youtube for this but would it trouble you if you give me like a step by step note on what to do also the only flash drive I have are a 16GB one so is it possible to reinstall a legit copy without a usd or cd?

Using a legit key may or may not work as you don't know how the installed version has been cracked. But you shouldn't use it unless you don't mind risking identity and bank account theft etc. It could even be cracked to copy keys of steam games.

If you paid for it, get a refund and buy a legit copy elsewhere. Don't trust that store.

the thing is this cracked version works exactly like a legit like it syncs with my laptop windows and gets updates so I don't know I feel like i should get the key first try it out if it works or not

I've never heard of a so-called cracked version of Windows asking you to put in a key. The expiry notice is exactly what you'd expect of a normally-downloaded copy of W10 approaching the 15-30 day mark.

Do you have the 'watermark' ("Windows isn’t activated..." blah blah) on the bottom of the screen?

Do me a favor, from an admin command prompt run

slmgr /dlv

and post a screenshot of the output window.

That is what crackers exploit to activate Windows. They make Windows think it's activated using KMS.
