50HZ tv for 60FPS PC gaming
I'm thinking of finally upgrading into 4K, I found a nice tv module 4K and with HDR, my only concern is that the tv only has 50HZ, which should normally cap the FPS to 50. But I heard that European tv modules are just designed to be 50HZ but should work 60HZ for video games.

Is that true?

Also what do you think of this module:

Thank you.

It is a 50Hz panel according to the manufacturer LG. So 60Hz won't be possible.
Considering it also lacks DisplayPort, makes me wary.

No idea if that thing has a gaming mode to reduce input lag. Which would be the real dealbreaker.

But from what I heard from some other boards that European tv's have 50HZ but also compatible with 60HZ for gaming. It's more of an argument, and I have no clue which side is right.

Sure, it will accept a 60Hz signal, but it will always be output as 50Hz.

You mean it'll be 50HZ when used for browsing and such?

The panel is a 50Hz panel, no matter what you put in, the output will ALWAYS be 50Hz or lower.

But for PS4 and PC gaming it will be 60HZ, correct?

No the output is limited by the TV which is locked at 50hz. It cannot go above 50hz.

*sigh* No. The panel will not magically turn into a 60Hz panel. It is still a 50Hz panel and will only output 50Hz.
60Hz will be downscaled to 50Hz, will all the disadvantages that comes from it.

I see.. Well in that case I shall look for 60Hz instead.

According to the manual it is 60Hz.

All new big brand TV's in Europe should support 60Hz or PAL60.

I've not seen recent TV's for the UK and Europe that don't. I would say if in doubt google the model number and look at the manual.
Since so many pages say 50 Hz I wouldn't feel too sure and maybe would opt for another one.

Well, people in reddit had different opinions as well, some believe it would work, others don't.

Is this a blast from the past? NTSC and PAL have gone and they are gone for good. Although there are still remnants of this standards in the current digital age.
The TV should be able to process a 60 Hz signal.

In the worst case you can setup a custom made video signal output for your grafics card with 50 Hz.

Thank you, Very reassuring to hear that.
As i've said, all over the internet people are conflicted about this and it makes the decision all the more hard and confusing.

The US NTSC is usually 50, 99% of uk tv's are 60
