Alienware Area 51 R2 Disable Lights
Hey everyone, quick question here that Im hoping will also warrant a quick answer. The lighting fx on the sides of my alienware area 51 r2 pc have been flickering for quite a while now, but they seem to have gotten worse. Its basically reached a point where they constantly turn and off like a strobe light. Its very annoying and distracting. Is there any way to just turn off the lights completely? Im guessing there is some way to do it in the alienware command center, if so, can anybody tell me a good place to download the latest version because I actually uninstalled it a while back after deciding that it just wasint necessary anymore.

Well, only place to get the software would be the dell/alienware support section for that laptop.
If theres a way to turn them off it should be part of the software

If not, then you'll just have to cover them up with electrical tape or something similar.

Lighting issues like that appear to be common with those systems.

Simply press the Fn + Flying Saucer combo keys to turn the lighting all on or all off.

What also works is load up the lighting software and change a zone to black to turn off that light

Its not a laptop, just a desktop gaming pc. Not sure if that matters though, but I wanted to clarify that.

I have thought about just saying screw it and applying electrical tape, but would that restrict airflow? Its just the sides of the front cover that would be covered up, and they dont seem to be generating any airflow, but Im not quite sure.
yeah i know its not a laptop, though i forgot to edit the first part

if they are only lights then it wont affect airflow, blow out a candle next to them and see where the smoke goes.

Ill take your word for it, much appreciated :)
Yea on the desktop it's similar software. Setting a light zone to black will turn off that light.
