just to mention.
cpu is ok about the same a mid-range gaming system
2070 max-q is weak (it would be regarded as an entry level gpu in a gaming desktop. max-q gpus are weaker tan the desktop version)

For the same money you could get a top end desktop.
But, i would find something similar from ASUS/Lenovo/etc and compare the price.

You pay more for the design and the name than the actual hardware
Is like the person above had said, it seems they sorta are half right...
They give, or used to give a good solid ground for a Computer to work with
in terms of Gaming, but if you want Power, you still have to Upgrade it...
But it's a solid start...
However, you are over paying for the brand... You won't get better Specs
from other Companies, but you will get a lot cheaper products by other companies...
But if you want better Hardware for the price of a Dell, you would need to build
your self a Computer by piece, by piece...
I do not know if this is still the case today, as I barely almost never look at
pre-built setups anymore...
Example:
Custom Built House PC's = Better Then DELL XPS Setups with "Close To Same Pricing"
Dell XPS = Top of the line pre-built Computers / Laptops with "Overly Brand Pricing"
Other Systems = Lower or Weaker Computers / Laptops with "Lower Non-Brand Pricing"
Would you agree? Disagree?
Its definitely not a luxury thing
Its a people not knowing any better thing
Just because its a known brand doesnt mean you should pay more because its a KNOWN brand

So after looking up that Alienware laptop, it seems its on sale for 1800 down from 2200
I SUPPOSE that could justify it but ehhhh...
shrug
If you want something expensive which does deliver quality for the price get a T or P -series Thinkpad.
Now, I would recommend a Asus ROG or Sager XOTIC
Apple isn't worth it. They only get points for me for their software which works really well with their devices. But Apple screws you over for money at every oppertunity.
You pay 2x as much as the machines are actually worth. Their machines are becoming increasingly harder to repair. You can't even replace the keyboard, screen or touchpad, when you do the machine will refused to work until Apple runs a piece of software on it to make it work again. And that is besides the fact that everything is glued which makes the dissasembly of their machines even harder.
Apple machines are prone to issues which Apple can't be bothered to fix as long as these devices are in production. If your machine dies after a few years you can't fix it and Apple will refuse to fix it and tell you to just spend $2000 on a new device.
