Is 2080ti compatible with a z270 motherboard
I just ordered a 2080 Ti XC Gaming from EVGA, so excited, I currently have a EVGA GTX 1080SC, I have an ASUS TUF Z270 mobo, and 850 Supernova EVGA Psu. Will this suffice my new card or do I need to upgrade?

Board and PSU are absolutely fine.
ok thank you...
Why wouldn't it? Both are PCI-E 3.0.

Though if you have an i3/i5, you could (and would) exeprience bottlenecking, even in 2160p.

pci-e is even backward compatable

you could run in in socket 775/771 or am2 boards with the pci-e slot
*would need updated bios to support the 10xx series gpu tho
i got my PC 3 years ago, I know how to turn it on, play games, stream...albeit not very well, and some other non technical things... I'm not very computer literate as of now. I did not know if what I have was compatible with the new card...i have a 7700k, which I was pretty sure would be fine, as I've seen others with 20 series cards and a 7700k...

I didn't know, so I asked...I dont even know what PCI-E 3.0 even is...the first answer from suicidal monkey was easy peasy lemon squeezy, was right to the point and didnt make me feel stupid for not knowing what PCI blah blah blah is...maybe try to not to be so condescending...

It wasn't condescending. There's better wording for it, sure, but given the way you've talked to people on this sub-forum in the past, you're kind of one to talk about being rude.

PCI-e is the slot, Gen* is the bandwidth type. Every single motherboard made today supports the Gen3 bandwidth.
X570 has Gen4 support for GPUs, but it's moot because not even the 2080 Ti is capable of coming close to maxing out the Gen3 bandwidth.

the only pro of pci-e gen 4 is that x8 lanes can match a gen 3 x16 bandwidth
ex. sli/cfx with 2 gpus sharing the gen4 x16 bandwidth (x8 to each) gives each card the gen3 x16 bandwidth

or cpus/mobos with limited lanes can still get the bandwdith needed for all devices
Why wouldn't it they both have PCI-E 3.0 is a condescending statement...like everyone knows this, tone...you might as well have just said all that in french because it means less than nothing to me, as I guess you skipped over the not computer literate part...

I didnt need an explanation because I dont care how it does what it does...i just need it to do it, so I wanted to make sure I have whats necessary to make that happen I dont need to know all the inner workings and names of all the parts for a microwave or other such devices...I just need it to do what I need it to do...

I talk to people in the way I feel they are talking to me...I asked a question...it was answered...nothing else required...simple...the 1st answer was all I needed the rest is just what exactly? You guys looking out for me? Being thorough...Yea you keep telling yourselves that

How can you tell tone from text? Why would you even try to add tone/emotions to text? You can't convey it properly..

Sometimes people could be wrong, it's always good to get a second opinion or answer. Otherwise if someone commented first and said 'no its to old to work properly', you would've upgraded on that one persons comment?
Makes no sense to me.

I don't see how it's condescending, I told you something about it, then told you it would work, and lastly told you a few of the conditions it wouldn't work (well.)
So, why did you asume some hidden meaning? Take it as it's writen without reading emotions into it.
i asked a question...it was answered...you said why wouldnt it? like im supposed to know they both have PCI-E or even what it is. first answer was all i needed i dont know what all the rest of this is for...its not tone from text its getting the tone from how u txtd... I can convey tone pretty well with txt...i learned how to in grade school. that's why we have things like periods, commas, exclamation points, and question marks. It's not how you said it...it was that it was said at all... As this txt is dripping with sarcasm, and not to mention the other guy who says i am rude...obviously some things arent too hard at all to convey thru txt. The only thing missing from your text that coulda made it any more obvious...was DUH!

Question asked and answered no reason for anymore responses...

It wasn't condescending from what I see, and Autumn has also given the explanation right away.
Either way - nothing to discuss here, guys, let it go. Also - congrats with you new card, have fun!
thx..i cant wait to get it...
