Laptop speakers 'blown', no audio - BT AUX works (MSI GL63 8SD)

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm going to RMA my laptop since its only 5-6 months old (I got it in August),

I just want to see if I am able to get the speakers working since the last time they worked, they sounded amazing...that was before I shutdown the laptop, in which windows had to automatically update. The next time I booted it up, no sound from the speaker, but BT and the headphone jack works fine.

What I did already,
- DDU Realtek drivers in safe mode and reinstall MSI provided drivers, along with Nahimic in the correct order.
- Run CCleaner, clean registry and storage in safe mode.
- Downgrade windows to previous working version, didn't fix anything.
- Update Bios, EC was the latest version.
- Make sure all other drivers are up to date.
- Boot Linux off of a USB, still no sound.
- Remove bottom cover, disconnect and reconnect speakers - still no sound.

So I'm guessing the internal speakers are dead, but it doesn't make sense considering I hadn't had a problem with them before they 'died'.

I want to try every possible option I got to fix it, because I need the laptop for school and work I can't really send it off, and then have to wait a month to get it back. I will send it off if I have to in order to fix this, but I'd prefer not to.

In IT, if something breaks it's highly probable that something changed to break it. So I would suspect windows update as the culprit.

There is a known problem will windows update and sound. This issue sounds similar. One fix is to find realtek audio drivers on the web, download and install them. (I think this works because it resets the sound system.)

I had the problem as shown in the video below -

Search google for 'windows update no sound' if this isn't your problem.

I tried what they did in the video, still no sound from the speakers even though windows is saying they are working. The green bar would go up and down if audio was playing despite them not working.

External speakers work if I were to connect them to the headphone jack, and bluetooth audio works if I connected my headphones. I have no clue why BT and the headphone jack works if the speakers don't work, if it is a software problem.

I did notice I need to update windows, I'm currently running 1903 and I'll update my Nvidia driver too, currently running 441.68.

My Realtek driver is the latest one for my laptop (6.0.8694.1), newer ones wouldn't work - if they did, the sound quality would be absolute junk and Nahimic wouldn't install.

Well I think I solved my own problem, I'll have to send it off anyways after what happened today. As I was unplugging the charger from an wall outlet, the cable shot out and clipped the screen.

I don't think I need anymore words to explain what happened, ♥♥♥♥.

Gives me a reason to swap the junk (and now, toast) 60hz screen out for the 120hz screen that was available for my laptop, but Canada Computers decided to ♥♥♥♥ me over and give me the junk screen. That includes an actual 'steelseries' RGB keyboard, not a fake one - which mine has.

And how much did I pay? $1600, or wait... I think it was $1800 after I swapped the ram for an Corsair Vengeance 2666 8x2 16Gb kit. Just to have countless problems over the course of 4-6 months. I don't really give a ♥♥♥♥ that I used it literally everyday either. I expect a laptop that I paid a crap ton of money for to last me for 2-3 years before ANY wear starts to show.

Sure, maybe its because I'm using it for everyday tasks such as school work, typing, gaming, going back and forth from places - using the laptop for my job as an automotive technician...etc.

I bought it because I needed something that would be just as fast as a desktop, on the go. Hardware wise, its damn good - faster than my current PC. Its been good until one problem appeared which opened up a whole new problem, followed by many others.

First premature paint wear, then intermittent BSOD errors, followed by CPU Internal errors (HWINFO), then speakers start to act up, speakers randomly started to work perfectly at this point, paint started to come off on the corners of the laptop, then speakers completely failed, and now the screen is toast.

10/10 MSI - All in the matter of 4-6 months. Good hardware, good cooling - but ♥♥♥♥♥♥ QC and build quality.

Now at least I have a actual reason to RMA, lets see how good the customer service is.

I must point it out that if speakers are blown while in use, the audio amplifier is already damaged too. Almost all amplifiers can't survive the time speakers blown.

laptop speakers are often 8-16ohm
and the amplifier should have short protections

I do. In both home and work. Our half-million-dollar test amplifier always blows up every time an electronic component blows up. It is for test 1250 amp in one second as required by the IEC standard.

A fresh reinstall of windows? Drastic but it might work assuming it's a software problem. I would also guess the speakers work like you did.

Test speakers at each stage like right after the install, etc...
