What is the software to check CPU temps?
I’m trying to make sure my CPU running temperature and I see a lot of “freeware”

Looking for one with the least BS. Most known and reputable?

Can't go wrong with Hardware Monitor

msi afterburner

Try CoreTemp, if you just want CPU temps, and HWInfo, if you want the whole system temps.

I use HWInfo64. It´s pretty detailed.

MSi Afterburner is probably the easiest and quickest to setup, especially if you want on-screen display while gaming.
HWInfo64 has so much more information available but takes a bit longer to setup on-screen display.
Both will use RTSS (RivaTuner Statistics Server) for on-screen display function but you get the odd application that does not like it.

hwmonitor works for most cpus/mobos (some will be off by 5-10c)

afterburner adn hwinfo also may need offsets to read correct temps

mobo software is best for getting the correct readings
but not all can log min/max while gaming or stress

what cpu/mobo do you have?

I use that but too bad that tool doesn't work on screen so is a bit obsolete nowadays.

How does HWinfo64 compare to HWmonitor?

Much less information available, no ability to configure layout, no on-screen display ability and maybe some other limitations I can't think of without installing HWmonitor to compare.
Edit: should add this is for HWmonitor.

HWmonitor or speedfan or speccy.

Most of the time i just use msi afterburner's overlay if i want to check the temps for some reason. I've got it running anyway as i tweak gpu with it, and it can display cpu temps in overlay...
When i want more detailed info (like ram temps etc) hwmontor is great.
