i5-9500F solderd or not?
Hello friends,

I wanted to ask if someone of you knows wether the i5-9500F has a soldered TIM or not since I couldn't find anything with the help of all mighty Google.

I know for sure that the i5-9400F is the first 9th gen CPU that isn't soldered, but don't know nothing about the i5.9500F.

Intel started soldering their CPUs with 9th gen. All 9th gen chips are soldered.

Brother, that's seems not completely true. The i5-9400F is no soldered, it uses the normal average "toothpaste" TIM :steammocking:

But I couldn't find any information on the i5-9500F, that's why I'm asking here.

F series aren't soldered. That I didn't know, but you could have literally found that out with a google search.

That's good for overclockers and people who care about thermals other than the fact they need a graphics card.

No, Intel said that KF still has soldered TIM. It's only CPUs like the 9400F, so overclocking is moot because it's locked chips only.

It doesn't even matter. Those are all low end cpus and won't get hot enough since you can't even OC them. Just use arctic silver 5 or Arctic Cooling MX4 paste and a cooler like maybe a Hyper212 EVO

If (!) possible, I would recommend everyone to delid their -F cpu and put liquid metal on the chip itself. On the IHS I would use Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut or the above mentioned Arctic Cooling MX4. That way, one will have a much cooler and silent system. :steamhappy:

That's pointless.

It costs money to delid, re-paste, and re-solder. If done incorrectly, you can destroy the CPU and waste hundreds of dollars for nothing when it wasn't even necessary to begin with. These F series chips like the 9400F are fairly low in power and don't produce much heat, nor can they be overclocked, which is most often why people were de-lidding their CPUs. To re-iterate, you can destroy the CPU by delidding it, there is a risk to doing it.

It won't cause lower CPU cooler noise because that's completely up to the cooler itself. It can still be loud at lower RPM if the cooler is just awful.

its poinless unless you have a board that can oc it anway

its a very low tdp cpu, its stock cooler is enough, no need to delid for better ihs tim
