Looks like CPU limit to 2933 MHz. Board supports it with a CPU that supports 3,200.
Clock your RAM to 2933 MHz and that is max. Probably requires a manual setting. XMP is wrong clocks for your CPU since it can't handle those speeds so it's trying to compensate.
Also check what BIOS you are running:
https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/X470%20Master%20SLI/index.asp
https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/X470%20Master%20SLI/index.asp#BIOS
Your BIOS could be older which could be making things more complicated.
If running Windows 10, just run Task Manager, Click on Memory and you'll see your memory speeds. Also make sure your RAM is split between banks to enable 2 (dual) channel.
Cpuz memory tab shows what it's currently running at, also make sure it says Dual Channel. SPD tab shows ram info, which slots are populated and the possible profiles.
Cpuz shows the ram speed by half. As all ddr runs x2 their speed.
1067=2133
1200=2400
1600=3200
Thanks for the response,
It seems I'm running an older BIOS, so I'll have to update that first.
Afterwards how would I go about altering clock speeds manually?
Task manager shows:
Speed: 1200MHz
Slots used: 2 of 4
Form Factor: DIMM
Ultimately XMP should be working which it's not. You shouldn't have to tweak anything normally.
XMP should just know what the RAM wants and needs.
Thanks for pitching in!
After activating the XMP profile my computer uses the boot assist - description says that it seeking the highest compatible RAM speed. When it boots up, speeds have not changed. Therefore XMP profile does not appear to be working in my case.
CPU-Z says Channel: Dual
Under timings:
DRAM Frequency: 1197.1 MHz
FSB:DRAM: 1:12
CAS# Latency (CL) 16.0 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD): 16 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP): 16 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS): 39 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC): 55 clocks
Command Rate (CR): 1T
How can I modify these without using XMP profile?
Thanks again
Okay thanks, I'll update and get back to you with results
op update bios and try xmp again, if it still doesn't work use ryzen dram calculator to get an idea for the manual settings. I use the same ram, when I still had a r5 1600 it only worked with 2666, but after a bios update the 3200 was no problem. usuallly the bios updates add ram compatibility
A few of the latest updates warn not to update if using Pinnacle and under version 3.40 (latest compatible with Pinnacle) it says:
" If the current BIOS version is older than P1.90, please update BIOS to P1.90(PinnaclePI-AM4_1.0.0.6) before updating this version"
So I downloaded 1.90 update first, unzipped it to USB (in FAT32 format) and proceeded to instant flash. I could see that it was searching the USB, but it could not find the 1.90 update - "No BIOS found."
BIOS file is in the root archive of the USB stick - any ideas why it can't find it?
Thanks again
