you could try adding a little mechanical oil or another type of oil(cant remember which) to the bearing, that may help it.
what do you mean by built in fan? what type of fan is it and what case are you using?
The top fan of this. I just booted it back up to check and it's noisy again. It shows running at 450 rpm when it did 600 normal
Would it be a safe idea to force bios to run it at 600 to check? The noise idk but the speed miiiigbt be the cold
Edit: I think the current sound is kind of like cicadas/crickets if that makes sense
Yeah i would try adding a small amount of oil to the bearing, its likely the bearing is going bad due to age, but lubing it up a little should help it.
You can just unplug and unmount the fan if it becomes a problem, you should be able to mount a 120 or 140mm fan in its place.
It also might be possible to replace the fan if antec supplies them, there are also other 200mm fans that should fit in its place as well though.
the top fan is controlled a 3 speed switch control as stated on the specifications, testing it with that would probably be best.
Are you sure the BIOS actually controls the fan and isnt just a speed warning? everything should be handled by the Case's fan controller itself, not the BIOS.
using something like that to lube the bearing would be where id start troubleshooting
See if the fan controller works for those fans first of all and go from there
But generally when a fan starts making a noise and slows down at the same time then yeah its time to either lube or replace the fan.
how to remove the fan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sH35gh7TfA
Clearly they were i***** If they want everything simple, plug and play, then they are in the wrong business. Does matter if they would have needed to cut it out, you don't, you'd be paying them to do it.
Took me less than 60 seconds to find instructions on how to replace the fan. It's a little fiddly and takes a longer than most fans but it can be done.Take a look. It really isn't that hard.

If generic fans won't fit contact Antec. While some companies don't list replacement parts they often sell them if asked.
the youtube video shows how to do it also, but yeah, easy to find info.
The point is the fan placement is similar and how you remove the fan from the shroud is the same, you have to lift the top of the case to get to the fan
removing that fan is simple.
just unplug the power from it if its such a hassle
