Custom Gaming Laptop - HELP
Hi to any who stumble across this post, and another hello again to anyone who might have input on a previous similar post I made some time ago. Time has now moved on, as has my indecision about how to maximise my gaming experience.

Long story short, I need to upgrade my laptop to something more future proofed (as much as one can future proof a gaming laptop) and I've been looking at PCSpecialist to get it built within my budget but reading reviews is always like googling your health; you come away with a 'terminal' cold. Has anyone build their/a system with PCSpecialist that could say anything about the quality and value? It's a lot of money to spend so I want to do it right.

So far I've been looking at the Vyper

Chassis & Display - Vyper Series: 15.6" Matte Full HD 45% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU) - Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor 8750H (2.2GHz, 4.1GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM) - 16GB Corsair 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card - NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 - 6.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st Hard Disk - 500GB Samsung 860 2.5" EVO SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
1st M.2 SSD - Drive500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3400MB/R, 2300MB/W)
Memory Card - Reader Integrated 2 in 1 Memory Card Reader (SD, MMC)
AC Adaptor - 1 x 150W AC Adaptor
Battery - Vyper Series 46WH Lithium Ion BatteryPower
Cable - 1 x 1 Metre Cloverleaf UK Power Cable
Thermal Paste - STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
Sound Card - 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack
Bluetooth & Wireless - GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS INTEL® AC-9260 M.2 (1.73Gbps, 802.11AC) +BT 5.0
USB/Thunderbolt Options - 1 x USB 3.1 PORT (Type C) + 2 x USB 3.1 PORTS + 4 x USB 2.0 PORT
Keyboard Language - PER-KEY RGB BACKLIT UK MECHANICAL KEYBOARD

It hits all my preferred specs (late gen i5-i7, 1060+ GPU, SSD storage (??), 16GB RAM) and within my max £1300 budget. However, I would welcome any input on maximising performance while minimising cost and will consider making changes if anyone with computer experience has recommendations for an alternative system (either via PC specialist or pre-built) that can handle demanding games like GTAV, AC and Virtual Reality with good -if not better than good - performance. Please bear in mind if suggesting pre-built systems that I am based in the UK as prices rarely correlate.

-----------------------
Unfortunately is does have to be a LAPTOP, my lifestyle and need to use in multiple locations will be incompatible with a desktop.
-----------------------

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to assist me in building my new system.
Delphi

PS: Additional information -
* I am not set on 15.6" screen size. I would prefer not to go smaller, I don't mind larger.
* I would rather not have an SSD drive with the OS smaller than 500GB but if I did have to compromise on that I would.
* Good heat management is important to me as boiling hands for hours on end is never fun.

I'd say you should be fine for a while with those specs.

Lol I game on a laptop as well (Acer Predator Helios 500) and it's just amazing. The specs are fairly similar to yours except it has a 1070 and smaller NVME SSD.It's a 17.3" display and I would highly recommend this laptop if you are thinking of different models as well.

But anyways you should definitely be fine for the latest games on High settings with solid FPS.

Will your budget let you stretch to a 1070? Is that screen a 60hz or 144hz

Thanks for the reply. I’ve actually had pretty good WOM reviews for the Acer Helios so it’s definitely something I would consider (if I can find one within my budget!) if I don’t go for a custom build. My only hesitation is in going for the brand again as I’ve had a previous ‘sudden death’ with an Acer but acknowledge this can happen to any computer at any time. 😃

Hi, thanks for your reply. This model is actually a 60Hz. I’ve tried every which way to get a 1070 model out of my budget without taking a large hit to the other specs but so far I haven’t managed to find something in this region... I had hoped to go 1070 for many reasons but sadly I’ve wrangled my budget out as much as I can at the moment. 😞

Thanks for your reply! This laptop is definitely one I’m considering (Although it’s a slight variant as there doesn’t seem to be an exact UK equivalent in my budget). I’m hearing more and more good things about it.
