Weird Beeping on Startup - What gives?
(im not tech-savvy)
My PC sometimes beeps on startup. Its in a weird rhythm, going 3 times in quick succession, beep-beep-beep, (1 second pause) beep-beep-beep, (1 second pause), beep-beep-beep, (1 second pause), beep-beep-beep, and then either a long pause followed by another 4 times the 3 beeps or it stops.
so either 12 beeps, 24, etc. but i think it never went beyond 24.
It doesnt seem to cause any issues, my pc seems to work fine, apart from the fact that sometimes when i shut it off, it gives me an error message with a bunch of numbers but sadly the message dissapears so quickly and the pc shuts off that i cant read it.
I will try screenshotting it next time i see it.
This has been going on for a while now.

Since it booted just fine, my guess would just be that the BIOS was probably restored to its default settings.

3 rapid beeps is a ram issue i believe, since the machine boots ok i would initially suspect the onboard cmos battery.

Check the cmos battery voltage, either within your bios or with a volt meter. If it drops to around 2.9v or lower replace it.

Normal post is just one instance of a single beep. Any other beeps usually means errors or problems.

Consult the motherboard manual for post beep codes.

Most manuals never state those.

Look on the motherboard makers forum.

That's news to me.

The forums for the branded board should have answers for beeps and/or digital led codes.

Sigh. Found this so easy with a search.

Which are horribly outdated. Almost no one uses BIOS anymore, pretty much all current computers use UEFI now and those beep codes where never standardized.

most newer boards have leds for cpu/ram/gpu
if its working and you get beeps, it will also show a more descriptive message on the display, or be able to enter bios to correct settings

most likely issues are ram freq/timings (fix by picking correct xmp profile)
or drive boot order (fix by disabling unneeded boot devices and setting correct order, usb -> ssd/hdd)
or unstable oc, pick more stable settings or test farther to find best oc
