my oculus rift s connects the usb and displayport for about 5 sceonds the sethead gets white light and makes a sound then the displayport doesnt connect

Corsair VS isn't a good PSU.

if the psu can power the system its fine

450w is kinda low, as long as you dont have a high tdp cpu/gpu it will be ok

this is what i got i bought a new graphics card because my old one was crap but even with that it says the displayport on the rift goes off

the 1050it is weak for vr

if its new return it and get a 1060 6g-1660ti or better if possible
those are under 125w, will be fine with the vs450 in that build

make sure the headset is fully charged before using it

sorry i mean i have the gtx 1070 what 1050 was my old one and what you mean charged as it plugs into usb and displayport to use

Weak psu and gpu.

Look at 2070 Super and Gold certified 650w psu

I don’t have money to buy a new gpu but if I bought a higher better psu do you think that would help

ask in the rift forums why the display is turning off

if the system is running fine its not a power supply problem

But you bought VR and don't even have a gpu that can run it. So that's where you are atm. Save up for a gpu and psu.

1060 6GB / RX 580 8GB are basic bottom line for VR. But given what's out atm, I wouldn't suggest below 5700XT / 2070S

Then a decent PSU...
