Overclocking GPU Question, 100% GPU FAN speed safe?
So my 2080 Super in a stresstest and demanding games reaches 83 degress max with the gpu fans automatically adjusting to 90% speed.

This is pre overclocked (but I think the gpu is overclocking itself)
My question is if running fan speed at 100% safe while gaming if I want the gpu fans to last at least 3 years?

Also I do want to overclock, do you think I have enough headroom in temps?

83c max at 90% is fine.

But if I want to overclock it do I have to raise the fans to 100%? The temp limit for my card is 84c.

just test it and see what happens...

I'd say maybe add a case fan? What case and fans do you have right now?

I only have 1 basic fan that came with my case which is like 3 years old. It's the
InWin 303-MSI Dragon.

Though if I were to add more how much do they really help with the temps?

It would help a lot. You should have at least two fans, one intake one exhaust.

No, that's the point at which it will start downclocking to maintain that temp, or just below it.
Go into (I assume you're using) Afterburner, and just drag that slider up to 90c.

And the card will overclock itself as much as it can, as long as it has thermal and power headroom.

While 83c is fine, personally, I would wonder why.
What case do you have, and what is the fan layout?

OP has only one fan in a InWin 303-MSI Dragon case.

why would you spend so much on hardware without giving a f about airflow in the case?
You want intake and exhaust fans to move the warm air away from your parts. 1 front 1 rear is the most basic layout, but you should rather add 2 fans to have 2 as intake and 1 as exhaust. It will probably help a few degrees

Man, when I saw the front panel I smacked my head into the desk. Lmao.
But it's not that bad, sure it could be better, but if you get a couple of fans, it should be pretty decent.

Get a decent Case that offers better airflow. Install 3-5 case fans that are decent ones. Like good ones from BeQuiet for example.

Your cpu and gpu are starving for cooler air as of now.

What? That case is fine for airflow...

With enough fans (2 in the bottom as intakes, and 2 in the top as exhaust) it's fine. And it looks pretty decent.

Edit ; OP, just buy yourself some decent fans : https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARCTIC-F12-Standard-Configuration-possible/dp/B00NTUJRHK
These are great, and pretty cheap. I use them myself, they've run at 100% for nearly a year now, and I have no issues with sound, or quality issues.
(The only issue I have is that they do get coated in dust, because I don't have dust filters, other than that they're great.)

Well he said he had like one case fan, which is why I said what I did. Sure if the case offers good airflow and fan placement, add more fans.

Dude if u have such high end hardware he's right about the fan, spend that 10$ , YOUR GPU BOOSTS ON IT'S OWN WHEN IT HAS A LOW TEMP, and automatically downclocks itself when it gets hot, not to mention that your worried about the fan lasting 3 years- running hot all the time your gpu might not last 3 years, a fan is easier to replace than a gpu die or memory vrm (what tends to blow up on rtx cards)
