Cooling for ryzen 3700x
I was wondering what people who run 3700 to 3900x are using to cool their CPU's. I want to use a water cooler, but from what I'm hearing the cheaper coolers aren't that good as the high end ryzen chips get really hot.

I recommend be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 because Ryzen 7 and 9 get pretty hot now (Zen2 specifically)
Otherwise, 280mm AIOs like H115i RGB Platinum, EVGA CLC 280 are good options of liquid cooling

Cheaper coolers like the 212 EVO are just slightly better than the Wraith Prism

Ryzen chips get hot quickly mainly due to their small size. They don't have a lot of surface area to transfer the heat to the heatspreader.

A liquid cooler would be ideal with Ryzen since it gets the heat away from the chip quickly. However, a decent air cooler for half the price like a Noctua NH-D15 or Bequiet Dark Rock Pro 4 will be more then capable of keeping the highest-end Ryzens cool.

I'm for the be quiet dark rock pro 4, It'll do a lot better than many liquid AIOs, excluding custom loops.

Yup, Dark Rock Pro 4

Using a 360 and 240 radiator and EK velocity block for my 3900X it does get very toasty especially in blender.

It's going to be toasty no matter what cooler you use, that's just how it is.

Blender or similar is also much more stressful then gaming.

Under 85*C is fine

I Agree, I hit 75C, even if I add more radiators it would do nothing to cool it down.

75*C is totally fine. The cooling is doing its job

Never said it was bad ....OP just asked what we using to cool 3700-3900 cpus and wants to watercool

Then look at EK or something like Corsair H150

I use a scythe fuma rev.B on 3700x. Doesn't go higher than 77c while encoding h264.

I'm using the stock cooler with a 3700x and it never goes above 80° even in cpu intense games

Not a 3700x owner, but I own a 6700k at 4.6ghz and I'm cooling it with a 212 evo.
When stressed, it says around 64 degrees C and almost will it break 70. As long as you have a decent cooler, good thermal paste application, and good airflow, most coolers will do the job.

3700X generally runs hotter than an overclocked 6700K because of the smaller lithography and more intensely packed heat directly related to that lithography.
Since the distance between each transistor is only 7nm, there is more focused heat on the die. Boosting is also a little bit broken, because voltages on Zen2 chips often jumps to 1.45~1.5v when they aren't being controlled, which is part of the source of that heat.

The Wraith Prism is just behind the 212 EVO and most users report their 3700X running closer to 80 C under heavy load, and they aren't overclocking it because Ryzen is as good as it's going to get out of the box.
